The Quantum range

Quantum skimmers are listed in four sizes, numbered 120, 160, 220 and 300. The number rises with the size of the unit, and the range reaches from small displays up to large systems. Skimmer sizing follows the bioload a system actually carries rather than its water volume alone, which is why a lightly stocked large tank and a heavily stocked medium one can land on the same model.

Standard and EQ

• The 160, 220 and 300 are each listed in a standard version and an EQ version.
• The 120 is listed in the standard version only.
• An EQ upgrade kit is listed separately for the 160, 220 and 300.

Upgrading an existing skimmer

The upgrade kits exist so that an owner of a standard Quantum in one of the three larger sizes can reach the EQ specification without buying a second skimmer. Each kit is built for a single size and does not carry across the range. The size is marked on the skimmer body, so read it off the unit before ordering rather than working from the model you remember buying.
