A Consistent Photoperiod Does More Than You'd Think

Plants and corals respond to a stable light cycle, and algae takes advantage of an erratic one. Switching lights by hand means the photoperiod drifts by an hour or two depending on the day you've had — a timer removes that variable for the price of a takeaway.

What a Timer Handles

• Lighting — a fixed on/off photoperiod for planted and reef tanks, run to the same schedule every day.
• Dual-outlet models — two independent schedules from one unit, useful for running daylight and actinic channels at different times.
• Day/night switching — controller-style units that run one outlet during the day and another at night, for equipment that should alternate rather than simply switch off.
