Collection: IceCap UV Sterilizer

IceCap UV units are listed here in two forms. The In-Sump models are built to stand in the sump and cover 18, 27 and 40 watts. The standard models are listed at 27 and 40 watts. Replacement bulbs follow at 27 and 40 watts, so the lamp can be renewed at the end of its service life rather than the whole unit. Wattage is the figure that ties a bulb to a unit, and it is marked on the unit itself. Read it off there, along with whether yours is an In-Sump model, before ordering a replacement.

In-sump and standard units

Two forms of IceCap UV unit are listed. The In-Sump models are built to sit inside the sump and cover 18, 27 and 40 watts. The standard models are listed at 27 and 40 watts. Where a system is run without a sump, the standard form is the one that applies; where there is a sump with space to spare, the in-sump form keeps the unit out of the display.

How the wattages fall

  • 18 watts is listed in the In-Sump form only.
  • 27 and 40 watts are listed in both forms.
  • Replacement bulbs are listed at 27 and 40 watts.

Bulbs and servicing

The lamp in a UV unit is the consumable part while the housing stays in service, which is why bulbs are listed separately here. They are identified by wattage, and that figure is marked on the unit rather than on a lamp once it is fitted. Read it from the unit before ordering. Sizing a UV unit follows the flow rate passing through it as much as the volume of the system, so the plumbing the unit will sit on is worth settling before the wattage is chosen.
