Two Ways to Filter, Two Different Jobs

A canister sits below the tank and moves water through a sealed stack of media baskets, which buys you a large media volume with nothing taking up room inside the display. A hang-on power filter clips over the rim, holds a smaller basket and opens in seconds — better suited to smaller tanks, quarantine setups and anywhere you want to change media quickly.

What's in This Collection

Canister filters — sealed multi-basket units rated by aquarium volume, including a model with built-in UV sterilisation.
Hang-on power filters — rim-mounted and easy to reach, in a range of sizes for smaller displays.
Replacement parts — impellers, head gaskets and spray bar kits, so an ageing filter can be repaired rather than replaced.

Choose by stocking level, not just tank size. A heavily stocked or messy-feeding aquarium is better served by a filter rated above the tank's nominal volume, and running slightly over-filtered costs you nothing. Keep a spare foam or pad on hand as well, so a service never means running the filter dry while you wait on a replacement. Questions about sizing? Email sales@jlaquatics.com.

J&L Aquatics was formed in December 1997

Our business was started from our love of the aquarium hobby. We at J&L Aquatics felt that the Canadian aquarist should have the option to purchase top quality supplies, equipment and livestock other than the generally over priced local retail stores.
