Why Your Aquarium Needs Dosing

Every tank consumes something. Reef systems burn through calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium as corals grow; planted tanks deplete iron and macronutrients; a new setup needs bacteria before it can hold livestock. The right additive depends on what you keep and what your test kit tells you. We stock additives from Seachem, Red Sea, Brightwell, Aquaforest, Tropic Marin, ESV, API, Fritz, Dennerle, and Tropica — covering both the reef and freshwater/planted sides of the hobby.

Sort by What You Keep

Reef & marine — calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium supplements, plus trace elements and ZEOvit-system dosing.
Freshwater & planted — complete and iron-based fertilizers, root tabs, and liquid carbon.
Cycling & bacteria — nitrifying bacteria and cycling accelerators for new tanks.
Water conditioners — dechlorinators and tap-water conditioners for every water change.

Not sure what your tank is short on? Test first, dose second — chasing numbers you haven't measured is how most tanks get out of balance. Email sales@jlaquatics.com if you want a hand matching a regimen to your setup. J&L has supplied Canadian aquarists since 1997.

J&L Aquatics was formed in December 1997

Our business was started from our love of the aquarium hobby. We at J&L Aquatics felt that the Canadian aquarist should have the option to purchase top quality supplies, equipment and livestock other than the generally over priced local retail stores.
