Modular return plumbing that aims flow where you want it. Loc-Line comes in 1/2 and 3/4 inch as 6 inch segment lengths that snap apart and reassemble, with round nozzles, flare nozzles, Y fittings to split a return, MPT connectors, an inline valve and a 3/4 to 1/2 inch adapter. Assembly pliers make separating segments much easier than doing it by hand. Alongside the Loc-Line there are U-tube directional returns in 3/4 and 1 inch, and complete plumbing kits.

How the system fits together

Loc-Line is ball-and-socket segments that snap together into a length you can bend and hold in position. A connector fitting joins the line to a threaded port on a return bulkhead, segments set the reach, and a nozzle at the end shapes the outflow. Because every joint is a snap fit, the same parts can be reconfigured after an aquascape change without touching the plumbing behind the tank.

Choosing nozzles and fittings

Round nozzles give a concentrated stream; flare nozzles spread it wider.
Y fittings split one return into two aimed outputs.
The inline valve trims flow at the nozzle rather than back at the pump.
The 3/4 to 1/2 inch adapter joins the two size ranges in one run.

Sizes and assembly

The two sizes do not interchange without the adapter, so settle on 1/2 or 3/4 inch for the bulk of a run first. Segments come apart by hand at first but get stiff once they have been in salt water; the assembly pliers exist for that reason and are the difference between a two-minute change and a bruised thumb. U-tube directional returns are the simpler alternative where the return comes over the rim rather than through the glass.
