The Hardware Around the Media

Cartridges get replaced on a schedule; the housings they sit in usually outlive several sets of them. When one does need replacing — a cracked canister, a stripped thread, a bracket that has rusted through — what you want is the part, not a whole new system.

What's in This Collection

  • Replacement canisters — standard filter housings for sediment and carbon stages.
  • Membrane housings — the pressure vessel that holds the RO membrane.
  • Flow restrictors — 100 and 200 GPD barrel restrictors, matched to membrane output.
  • Mounting brackets — single-canister brackets for wall or frame mounting.

Match the restrictor to the membrane rather than to the tap. A restrictor sized for the wrong membrane throws off the ratio of product water to waste, and the usual result is poorer rejection and a DI stage that exhausts sooner than it should. When a housing comes apart, check the O-ring and lubricate it before reassembly — most leaks that appear straight after a filter change trace back to a dry, pinched or twisted seal rather than to the housing itself. J&L Aquatics was formed in December 1997

Our business was started from our love of the aquarium hobby. We at J&L Aquatics felt that the Canadian aquarist should have the option to purchase top quality supplies, equipment and livestock other than the generally over priced local retail stores.
