    Sexy Shrimp

    1 review

    In Stock

Shrimp are active, entertaining and easy to keep. They shed their shells as they grow, and afterwards need to hide in the rock until their new shell hardens. Shrimp are highly excitable when food is present, and will do anything to get it. Some species may pester corals by attempting to reach food the coral has eaten. In this situation the shrimp should be provided food first. Large individuals may catch and consume smaller species. The tiny Sexy shrimp is also known as the Dancing Anemone shrimp and grows to only 3/4 inches. It holds its colorful tail up high an waves it around making an entertaining display. It is quite social with its own kind and is very peaceful with all other animals and corals. It may spend time within the tentacles of corals and anemones. It is easy to feed on fish food.

These snails like a temperature between 65-85oF, pH between 6.5-8.5, and their dKH between 12-18.Zebra Snails are one of the top choices for algae eating within the peaceful home aquarium. • Indonesian Live Aquarium Rock Indonesian Live Aquarium Rock

    Indonesian Live Aquarium Rock

    In Stock

Indonesian Live Aquarium Rock Indonesian "wild" live rock responsibly collected from the ocean can give your tank an added boost of micro-fauna and biodiversity that it may be lacking when using solely artificial or sterile rock. Features & Notes on Indonesian Live Rock Indonesian live rock offers a stunning, natural look that mimics the beauty of ocean environments. Its unique shapes and colors create an eye-catching focal point in your aquarium. Packed with beneficial bacteria, live rock plays a crucial role in biological filtration, helping to maintain a healthy aquatic ecosystem by breaking down waste and toxins. The porous structure provides hiding spots and breeding grounds for fish, invertebrates Our live rock is responsibly collected with all required permits and flown directly to us with regular livestock shipments. Our live rock is held in hold bins with a protein skimmer, heat and water circulation Wild live rock is ideal for starting out a new system or to simply add some biodiversity to an existing aquarium. Pieces range from approximately 1-5lbs Average box size 40lbs. Things to Remember Using "Real" Live Rock Always consider the rock "un-cured". This means that there is a very strong possibility that there will be die-off when adding to your tank. Expect a ammonia/nitrite spike and a possible odor. Curing rock can take up to a few weeks. There is a good possibility of there being hitchhikers on the rock. Good and Bad. While we attempt to get rid of the obvious ones, we won't get them all We recommend either putting it into a heated and filtered holding container or at the very least carefully examining it prior to adding it to an existing aquarium. If adding to an existing aquarium, add a small amount at a time to help minimize ammonia spikes. Live Rock is only shipped through airlines or overnight courier. It is live - not sterile. Live Rock is exempt from all free shipping promotions

  • Abalone Abalone

    Abalone

    Out of stock

Abalone are unique snails who have flattened shells with breathing holes in them. They are able to stick firmly to the glass or rocks- so much so that to force them off usually damages them and causes their demise. They have incredible appetites for algae, diatoms and detritus and need a lot of food. Abalone may grow up to 3 inches or more. It should be placed right side up on the sand near the glass after acclimation. It is adapted to rocky habitats; if it falls onto its back on the aquarium's sand it is not physically able to flip over and must be assisted. Snails are extremely sensitive to changes in water quality.

  • new-label Freshwater Betta - Assorted Female Betta - Assorted Female

    Betta - Assorted Female

    In Stock

Betta - Assorted Female Betta splendens Betta's originate from Thailand but can be found in various neighboring countries. Wild betta's typically live in shallow areas like rice paddies, stagnant ponds, marshes, and streams. So, while they can breathe through their set of gills, if they are put in an environment where oxygen is low, they may swim up to the surface and take a big gulp of air that they process through a lung-like organ called the Labyrinth organ. This doesn't mean that betta's prefer oxygen poor environments - the ideal set up for a Betta fish is a tank that is at least 5 gallons that is both filtered and heated. Filtration provides the tank with much needed oxygenation in the water as well as a quick way to clean out some waste that begins to build up. Because betta's have evolved and lived in warmer climates, their water temperature should rest between 75-86oF; if the water runs at room temperature, betta's will become sluggish and lethargic in their movements. Betta's do well in water that has a pH between 6.0-8.0 as well as a kH between 0-25. Glossary of Some Common Betta Terms Betta Fin/Caudal Fin Variations Crowntail (CT): Crowntail caudal fins have very little webbing between the rays, giving them a spiky appearance like a regal crown. Doubletail (DT): Doubletail betta's have two distinct equal caudal fins that separate at the base. Plakat is the most common type of doubletail seen, but doubletail halfmoons exist as well. Dumbo: Dumbo, or elephant ear betta's, haveen larged pectoral fins right behind each gill, giving them an even more dramatic and showy appearance. They can be found with plakat, halfmoon, doubeltail, and crowntail caudal fins. Halfmoon (HM): Halfmoon tails/caudal fins form a fan-like half circle that is at least 180 degrees apart or further. Plakat (PK): Plakat tails/caudal fins were bred to have shorter/less billowy fins so they could swim much faster in the water when fighting for sport. Rosetails (RT): The difference between rosetails and halfmoons is the excessive yet beautiful folding of the fins which give them a more ruffled look, like a rose flower. Veiltail (VT): Veiltail caudal fins are one of the most common and beloved tail types, known for being long and flowy like a veil. Betta Color Variations Avatar - Blue or green colored fins and scales over top a black body. Black Samurai - Deep black body with white dragon scales and white accents in fins. Blue Mustard - A blue body with yellow/orange fins that may have blue accents as well. Blue Rim - A white body with a deep, navy color rimming their fins. Candy - A vibrant, multicolored body that includes, pinks, reds, greens, blues, and more! Copper - This copper coloration metallic and iridescent, shimmering under many types of lighting. Nemo - Nemo's are primarily a mix between orange and red coloration on the body and fins of the fish.

These fish because of their size, should be kept with other similarly sized fish in a peaceful environment that is well planted alongside pieces of driftwood and smooth rocks. • Copperband Butterfly (Australia) Copperband Butterfly (Australia)

    Copperband Butterfly (Australia)

    Out of stock

Distinctive orange stripes across a milky white background combined with a long snout mark the unmistakable Copperband butterfly. A single dark eyespot on its dorsal fin adds extra appeal. It grows up to 8 Inches and needs an aquarium of at least 125 gallons.Copperband butterflies collected from Australia are highly sought after because they readily accept normal aquarium foods, such as frozen shrimp. We have even had success feeding Vitalis brand pellets! Their survival rate is extremely high, unlike those from other locations which may stop eating, or never begin in the first place. This species is normally quite peaceful and shy, and should not be kept with aggressive tank mates. It can be quite aggressive towards its own species; If several are to be kept together they must be added at the same time to a large aquarium. Butterflyfish do not show differences between males and females. They are related to angelfish, but lack the angel's distinctive cheek spines. A butterflyfish's favorite food is an anemone, so they should not be kept in the same aquarium with one unless it is guarded by aggressive clownfish. The butterflyfish knows to attack the anemone on its mouth, which does not sting, and will make a quick meal of it. Because of this behavior this species is often employed to rid an aquarium of pest anemones such as Aiptasia. This species does not typically nip on corals; however it may bother LPS, soft corals and zoanthids, clam mantles, sponges, and feather dusters. They do not usually bother other types of invertebrates such as crustaceans. They feel most secure when there is plenty of live rock to hide in, as well as open space for swimming. A wide variety of meaty and herbivore preparations can be offered, such as frozen Mysis shrimp, half shell clams, marine algae and Spirulina; it should be fed 2-3 times a day. Soft food may also be pressed into the rock to provide grazing opportunities. Supplements such as Brightwell's Angelixer and Garlic Power will increase the nutrition of any food offered.

  • Fu Manchu Lionfish (Asia Pacific)

    Fu Manchu Lionfish (Asia Pacific)

    Out of stock

As the ocean's most spectacular ambush predators, it is no wonder lionfish are so popular. Their huge fins are used to confuse and herd smaller animals so the lionfish can swallow them whole with their huge mouths. They greedily eat all shrimp many crabs, and any small or slender bodied fish. They do not harm corals, sponges, macroalgae or snails. They generally ignore anything that cannot be eaten. Best tank mates are large bodied fish such as tangs, angelfish, groupers, triggerfish and puffers. Sometimes the slow moving lionfish may become a target for aggressive fish. If added at the same time, and if of similar size, several lionfish may be kept together as long as there is at least one private refuge in the rocks for each fish. Most species are imported from Bali. The tips of the lionfish's fins contain a toxin that can cause extremely painful wounds. The sting may be as mild as a hornet sting or much worse- great care should be taken when handling the lionfish, and children should never be allowed to put their fingers in the water with the fish.Lionfish feed by sucking in their food whole into their enormous mouths. They are carnivores and should be fed at least once every two or three days a high quality diet of krill, silversides and chopped seafood. They are heavy feeders and thus strong filtration is necessary. Live food may initially be necessary, and the fish trained to eat off a feeding stick. Most fish could never hope to look as comical, or as wise, as the Fu Manchu lionfish. Named after its long mustache that pokes out in front of its face. Its body and fins are shades of bright to rusty red with bands of black and white. Near its tail its dorsal fin has two eyespots, giving it another name, the Twinspot lionfish. It is one of the most difficult species to wean off of live food. Tank mates should not be so boisterous as to steal its food. It prefers to spend its day perched in rock or upside down under overhangs. Large fish may be very aggressive towards smaller individuals of the same species. Males and females are visually identical. It grows to 4 inches; we recommend an aquarium of at least 30 gallons.

    Mocha Longfin Clownfish (Tank Raised)

    In Stock

An amazing fish with huge fins which dance in the water with every movement, this beauty was created by crossing a black with an orange Ocellaris clownfish. Its color is deep and warm, becoming richer as the fish matures. Some fish may become nearly completely black, but unlike the pure Black Ocellaris, this type always keeps its orange nose.False Percula, or Ocellaris clownfish, grows up to 4 Inches and needs an aquarium of at least 15 gallons for a single or pair. Groups may be kept in larger aquariums as long as the dominant female chooses to tolerate the small fish. It works best if all individuals are added at the same time.Ocellaris clownfish are also known as False Percula for their close resemblance to their close relative the True Percula. It pairs best with its own species, but may also chose a True Percula as a mate. It is very rare for another species to bond with it; more commonly fighting occurs. True Percula and False Percula clownfish are nearly identical; the main difference is True Percula typically has a more orange color around the pupil, whereas Ocellaris eyes show more black. Ocellaris clownfish have pencil thin black lines around their white stripes, as opposed to mature True Percula who have thick black outlines. They may host with nearly any anemone species, except Atlantic species. Best hosts are Magnifica/Ritteri (Heteractis magnifica) or Carpet (Stichodactyla sp.), however Bubble Tip (Entacmaea quadricolor) and Sebae (Heteractis crispa) are also popular choices.Clownfish are hardy, easy to keep and are a perfect first fish for a new aquarium. Most species are available tank bred. They are omnivorous and easy to feed on high quality food items such as frozen Mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and dry foods, preferably more than once a day.Clownfish are well known for their charming wiggling way of swimming, which serves them well in their natural home, within the stinging tentacles of an anemone. The exact reason clownfish are not stung is not known, but it may have something to do with the fish's slime coat. In the ocean, without the protection of the anemone, clownfish would be easily picked off by predators. In an aquarium the anemone, which has much more demanding needs than the fish, is not necessary. The fish may instead host with a soft coral such as furry mushrooms, toadstool leather, colt coral, or even within macro algae. It may choose to host within large polyp stony corals such as Euphyllia sp. as well, however the coral does sting the fish. We don't recommend encouraging them to host with delicate corals such as bubble or brain type corals, which the fish may injure with its constant swimming. Even with an anemone in the aquarium the fish will chose to host with whichever home it likes best.Clownfish may be kept singly, or more commonly in pairs, in which case the smallest more submissive fish remains a male, and the largest most dominant fish changes sex to become a female. Clowns are related to damselfish, and pairs will not tolerate other species of clownfish within their territory (which may include 50 gallons of space or more) and may fight to the death. They are prone to parasitic infections such as Brooklynella and velvet. It is common for pairs of clownfish to spawn in the aquarium, and pairs in their prime may lay eggs near their nest site as often as every two weeks. It is not necessary to interfere with the parents, who may become more aggressive at this time, chasing away other fish and nipping at their owner's hands. It is possible, though laborious, to raise the young fish at home. If a breeding effort is to be attempted, it is important to ensure the parent fish are of the same species in order to maintain genetic purity for future generations.

Its impressive coloration is a high contrast between a dark black/blue body with an intense yellow band vertically across the mid body and a bright yellow tail. It may be confused with the maculosos angel, however the asfur angel's yellow tail is much brighter. Males and females are visually identical. The asfur angel can grow to be approximately 16 Inches long and needs a large aquarium as an adult, we recommend at least 250 gallons. It does not appreciate living with other large angelfish and may become aggressive to them, however it is typically non-aggressive with other types of fish.Angelfish may nip on many types of corals, especially LPS corals, clam mantles, sponges, and sometimes soft corals. They do not typically bother SPS corals or other types of invertebrates. They feel most secure when there is plenty of live rock to hide in, as well as open space for swimming.
