What an RFG does

A standard return nozzle sends water in one direction at one speed. A random flow generator sits on the end of that return and breaks the stream into a pattern that shifts on its own, with no moving parts and no power. The appeal is coverage from plumbing that is already there, rather than adding another powerhead to the display.

Fitting one to your tank

• Sizes run 1/4 inch for nano returns through 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch.
• Red Sea Reefer returns need the drop adapter to sit at the right height.
• Waterbox 22mm returns need the 22mm adapter.
• Return Line Upgrade kits replace the nozzle assembly rather than adding to it.

Choosing between a nozzle and a full kit

If the existing return plumbing is sound, a FLEX series RFG on the end of it is the smaller change. The Ultimate Return Line Upgrade kits are for a return you want to rebuild anyway, or a tank where the factory return sits awkwardly. Both routes depend on matching the size and, on Reefer and Waterbox tanks, on having the right adapter.
