Fluval's LED range, split by what the light has to grow. Plant 4.0 and Plant Pro cover freshwater and planted aquariums, with the Pro adding dual-angle lightboards, far higher PAR and a 90 CRI rating for demanding aquascapes. Reef 4.0 carries the marine spectrum for coral colour and growth. Aquasky 3.0 is the general-purpose freshwater fixture. Nano versions of Plant 4.0 and Reef 4.0 handle small tanks, and replacement units for the Flex aquariums are listed as separate Aquasky and Marine 3.0 models. Sizes are spans rather than fixed lengths - the mounting brackets extend to fit any tank width inside the stated range, so measure the outside of your aquarium before choosing between, say, the 35-49 and the 46-61.

Sizing and mounting

Every fixture in the range is sold by span rather than by a single length. The 15-24, 23-35, 35-49 and 46-61 inch models all sit on extendable brackets that rest across the top of the aquarium, so one size covers a band of tank widths. That makes the outside width of the tank the number that matters, not the nominal gallon rating. Nano models are fixed-size units for small aquariums, and the Flex replacement lights are matched to a specific aquarium kit rather than to a width.

App control

Plant 4.0, Reef 4.0 and Aquasky 3.0 fixtures connect over Bluetooth to the FluvalSmart app, which handles intensity, spectrum, sunrise and sunset effects and scheduled light cycles. The Plant Pro runs on the newer FluvalConnect app over Bluetooth Mesh, with saved profiles for different aquascapes. The two apps are not interchangeable, so check which one a fixture uses before adding a second light to an existing setup.
