Mag-Drive

Danner's Mag-Drive Supreme range, a magnetic drive pump line that has been in aquarium and pond use for decades. Models run from the 250 up through 350, 500, 700, 950, 1200, 1800 and 2400, covering small sumps to large returns and external filter feeds. Service parts are stocked alongside them: replacement impeller assemblies for the 950, 1200 and 1800, an impeller for the 2400, and a replacement cover for the 950. The impeller assembly is the usual wear item, so check part numbers against your model before ordering.

How the range is sized

Mag-Drive model numbers correspond to the pump's rated output, so the 250 is the smallest in the line and the 2400 the largest. That makes it easy to step up or down a size, but the number alone does not tell you what the pump will deliver in your system - head height, plumbing runs and every elbow between the pump and the outlet all reduce real flow. Work from the head your return has to climb, not from the model number.

Service parts

  • The impeller assembly is the part that wears; most rebuilds start there.
  • Impeller assemblies are model specific - a 950 part does not fit a 1200.
  • Covers and volutes are replaceable separately if cracked or scaled.
  • Keeping a spare impeller for a running system avoids downtime on a return pump.

Magnetic drive pumps like these are used for sump returns, external filter feeds, pond work and general water movement in both fresh and salt water. They are simple, mechanically robust and easy to strip for cleaning, which is why they remain a common choice for systems that run continuously. An open-box unit occasionally appears in the listing; it is the same pump with opened packaging.
