Collection: Food Additives & Vitamins

Vitamin and fatty acid concentrates, garlic supplements and colour enhancers for soaking food before feeding. Soak the food rather than dosing the tank; whatever isn't eaten just feeds algae.

Supplements Go on the Food, Not in the Tank

Most of what fish need comes from the food itself, but processing and storage strip water-soluble vitamins and fatty acids out of prepared diets. Soaking food in a supplement for a few minutes before feeding puts those back where the fish will actually eat them, rather than dosing them into the water column where they mostly become nutrient for algae.

What's in This Collection

  • Multivitamin concentrates — blends formulated for marine and freshwater diets.
  • Fatty acid and HUFA concentrates — used for conditioning, and for thin or newly imported fish.
  • Garlic supplements — widely used to tempt reluctant feeders onto prepared food.
  • Colour and pigment enhancers — carotenoid-based additives aimed at colouration in fish and corals.
  • Specialty diet boosters — formulas aimed at grazers and sponge-eating species, plus coral energy supplements.

A few drops on a thawed portion is usually enough. These are concentrates, and anything the fish don't eat goes straight into the water as nutrient, so dose the food rather than the tank and follow the storage instructions on the bottle. Questions? Email sales@jlaquatics.com.

J&L Aquatics was formed in December 1997

Our business was started from our love of the aquarium hobby. We at J&L Aquatics felt that the Canadian aquarist should have the option to purchase top quality supplies, equipment and livestock other than the generally over priced local retail stores.
