Size It to the Tank, Then Verify It

Output is chosen against tank volume and how cold the room gets. Undersized, a heater never catches up in winter; badly oversized, a stuck-on failure moves the temperature faster than you can react to it. Splitting the load across two smaller heaters is a common approach on larger systems for exactly that reason.

Titanium heaters with external controllers — 100W to 500W, with the control unit outside the water.
Electronic glass heaters — 50W to 300W with adjustable thermostats.
Submersible heaters — 100W to 300W in shatter-resistant housings.
Mini heaters — 10W units for very small tanks and quarantine setups.
Holders and brackets — suction holders and magnet mounts for positioning.

Site the heater where there is flow, and never leave one powered when the water level has dropped — running dry causes more heater failures than anything else. Check the tank against an independent thermometer rather than trusting the dial, and replace a heater that has started overshooting rather than nursing it through another season. Questions?
