Salt and the Weekly Routine

Two things keep a tank healthy: good saltwater to start with, and consistent upkeep after. A quality reef salt mixes to the right chemistry for corals and fish; regular maintenance — scraping algae, changing filter socks, and doing water changes — keeps that chemistry from drifting. This collection covers both. We carry salt from Instant Ocean, Reef Crystals, Red Sea, and Tropic Marin, plus maintenance tools from Flipper and Continuum.

What's in This Collection

  • Sea salt mixes — reef and marine salts in a range of bucket and box sizes.
  • Algae control — magnet cleaners, scrapers, and blades for glass and acrylic.
  • Filter socks & fleece — mechanical socks and rolls in various micron ratings.
  • Treatments — problem-solvers for aiptasia, cyano, and water clarity.
  • Nets, tongs & water-change gear — the everyday tools that keep upkeep quick.

Mix salt with RO/DI water and check salinity before every water change — consistency matters more than any single parameter. Match a magnet cleaner to your glass thickness, and keep spare filter socks on hand. Email info@jlaquatics.com for advice. J&L has served Canadian aquarists since 1997.

J&L Aquatics was formed in December 1997

Our business was started from our love of the aquarium hobby. We at J&L Aquatics felt that the Canadian aquarist should have the option to purchase top quality supplies, equipment and livestock other than the generally over priced local retail stores.
