Fluval FX2 Canister Filter
The Fluval FX2 Canister Filter is a high-performance external filter for freshwater and saltwater aquariums up to 175 US gallons / 750 L. Built as the compact entry point into the Fluval FX Series, the FX2 bridges the gap between the Fluval 407 and FX4 by delivering Smart Pump technology, self-starting operation, high-capacity multi-stage filtration, and FX-style service features in a smaller cabinet-friendly body.
Compact FX Series Power for Larger Aquariums
The FX2 is designed for hobbyists who want FX Series performance but do not need the physical size or full output of the FX4 or FX6. It provides strong circulation, large mechanical surface area, and a generous biological media volume while remaining shorter and easier to place under many aquariums. This makes it especially useful for larger community tanks, predator tanks, turtle systems where compatible, and saltwater aquariums that need high-capacity external filtration.
FX2 Smart Pump and Maintenance Features

Best Uses for the Fluval FX2
The FX2 is best suited to aquariums that need stronger filtration than the 407 but do not require the larger flow and capacity of the FX4 or FX6. It is a strong option for high-bioload freshwater aquariums, larger aquascapes with messy fish, saltwater fish systems, and aquariums where easy drain-valve maintenance is a major advantage.

Setting Up the Fluval FX2 Canister Filter
Fill the canister as directed, install the included media baskets and plumbing, open the valves, and plug in the filter to allow Smart Pump to complete the startup sequence. Keep intake and output paths clear, use the utility valve during service when appropriate, and rinse mechanical media regularly to preserve flow through the canister.

- We always make our best effort to ship your order via the carrier chosen during the check-out process; however, for some multi-piece shipments and/or remote destinations, we must reserve the right to use another carrier at our discretion (and without prior notice). - Upon request, we will ship your dry goods as per your specifications (courier, airlines, on your account, etc.).

Return Policy — Aquarium Equipment & Supplies
- All returns and/or exchanges must be made within 30 days of receipt of product.
- Before returning or exchanging any goods, you must contact J&L Aquatics to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). Items returned without prior authorization will be declined.
- Returned items must be unused, in original packaging, in as-new condition, and in perfect sellable condition. All returns are subject to inspection upon receipt.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all online returns. This fee includes the cost of outbound shipping.
- Customer is responsible for return shipping costs on standard returns.
- Order cancellations made before shipping are not subject to a restocking fee.

Defective, Warranty & DOA Items
- If you receive an item that is defective, not working, or dead on arrival (DOA), please contact us as soon as possible.
- Confirmed defective and warranty returns have no restocking fee and no Affirm fee. Customer does not pay return shipping — J&L Aquatics will provide a prepaid return label.
- All defective claims are subject to inspection. Items showing signs of customer damage, improper installation, or misuse are not covered under warranty.

Affirm & Financing Orders
- Affirm or similar financing orders that are cancelled or returned in-store are subject to a 5% service charge. This covers the processing fee charged to us by the financing provider.
