IceCap UV Sterilizer - 40 Watt
The IceCap UV Sterilizer - 40 Watt is a larger high-output ultraviolet sterilizer for saltwater, freshwater, and pond systems that need stronger UV capacity and higher supported flow than the 27 watt model. Properly installed in a compatible plumbing loop, it helps improve water clarity and reduce free-floating algae, bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and parasite pressure as water passes through the UV chamber.
IceCap 40W High Output UV Sterilizer Overview
This 40 watt IceCap UV model is built for larger aquariums and water volumes, with manufacturer ratings up to 400 gallons for marine use and up to 3000 gallons for freshwater use. The 15.75 inch lamp, 2 inch inlet and outlet, and 1000 GPH maximum marine flow rating make it a better fit for larger reef systems, fish-only saltwater aquariums, freshwater displays, and pond installations where stronger UV throughput is required.
40 Watt IceCap UV Features
- Higher-output 40W model supports larger water volumes and stronger flow applications.
- Helps reduce suspended algae, bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and parasite pressure in the water column.

- High-output lamp is rated for 10000 hours of service life.
- Does not harm beneficial bacteria living on filter media, substrate, rock, and other surfaces.

40W UV Sterilizer Compatibility Notes
The IceCap UV Sterilizer - 40 Watt should be matched to the aquarium volume, target organism, and correct flow rate. For best performance, plumb the sterilizer so water passes through the chamber consistently and without trapped air. The unit should be powered through a properly grounded GFCI outlet, and the ballast and power components must remain dry and protected from splashing or salt creep.
Installing the IceCap 40W UV Sterilizer
Secure the UV vessel with the included mounting brackets and connect the inlet and outlet using compatible 2" PVC fittings or trimmed hose barb fittings. When mounted vertically, keep the electrical end up and use the lower port as the inlet. When mounted horizontally, keep the ports facing upward and avoid trapping air inside the unit. Always unplug the sterilizer before maintenance and never look directly at an operating UV lamp.
