The IceCap 2K Gyre is designed to move water differently than a traditional point-source wavemaker. Instead of creating a narrow stream from one small outlet, the gyre-style rotor produces a wide sheet of horizontal flow that can travel across the aquarium, down the opposite wall, and back through the tank. This crossflow movement helps reduce stagnant areas behind rockwork, improves surface movement, keeps suspended debris available for filtration, and creates more natural water motion for corals and active fish.

Match flow to livestock: The IceCap Gyre 2K Pump with WaveEngine LE Controller can move a large amount of water for its size, so start with lower settings around soft corals, LPS corals, long-finned fish, shrimp, fine sand, and delicate aquascapes. Increase flow gradually while watching coral extension, detritus movement, fish behaviour, and sand stability.

Use gyre flow intentionally: For surface agitation and gas exchange, place the pump higher in the aquarium and aim the crossflow across the surface. For debris suspension, angle the cages to move water behind rockwork and through lower-flow zones. Vertical mounting can be useful for specific aquascapes where horizontal placement does not produce the desired circulation path.

Setting Up the IceCap 2K Gyre with WaveEngine LE
