IceCap Controllable DC Media Reactor - Small
The IceCap Controllable DC Media Reactor - Small is a compact plug-and-play aquarium media reactor for freshwater and marine systems up to 40 gallons. Designed for confined filtration spaces, all-in-one rear chambers, and small sumps, it uses a removable twin-chamber media canister and an adjustable 12V DC feed pump to control contact time through GFO, biopellets, activated carbon, or other compatible filter media.
Small IceCap DC Media Reactor Overview
The Small IceCap Controllable DC Media Reactor is built for aquariums that need precise media use without bulky plumbing or a separate pump purchase. Its included DC-200 feed pump offers five power modes, allowing the user to tune flow for different media types. Slower controlled movement can help prevent GFO from grinding, while stronger flow may be useful for media that benefits from more active movement.
The removable twin-chamber canister gives the reactor more flexibility than a single open tube. The lower chamber can hold the primary media, while the upper chamber can hold filter floss to catch escaped particles or a second compatible media when appropriate. This makes the reactor useful for phosphate control, water polishing, carbon use, and targeted chemical filtration in smaller aquarium systems.
Small DC Reactor Features
- Plug-and-play reactor package: Includes the reactor body, removable canister, 12V DC feed pump, controller, and power supply so only media is required.
- Adjustable five-mode pump control: The DC feed pump allows flow tuning for different media types and aquarium needs.
- Twin-chamber media canister: Separate upper and lower chambers allow better media control, floss placement, or split-media use.
- Compact footprint: The small 2.2" x 2.2" body fits many all-in-one rear chambers, nano sumps, and tight filtration compartments.
- Removable media cartridge: Media can be changed without removing the entire reactor body from the system.
- Freshwater or marine use: Suitable for phosphate media, activated carbon, biopellets, and other compatible aquarium media.
- Durable acrylic construction: Clear body design helps make media movement and service condition easier to inspect.
- Integrated flow diverter: Helps manage internal water level and flow through the reactor during tuning.

Small Media Reactor Compatibility Notes
Media is sold separately: The IceCap Controllable DC Media Reactor - Small includes the operating reactor components but does not include filtration media. Match the media amount and flow setting to the media manufacturer's instructions, aquarium size, nutrient level, and filtration goal.
Controller placement matters: The controller and power supply are not waterproof. Mount them in a dry area with proper drip loops and keep them away from splashes, salt creep, and condensation. Rinse media before use and clean the pump regularly to maintain flow.
Setting Up the Small IceCap DC Media Reactor
Install the DC-200 feed pump into the reactor body, connect the controller and power supply, and load rinsed media into the removable canister. Place the reactor in a suitable sump or all-in-one chamber, start at the lowest pump setting, and increase flow gradually until the desired media movement is reached. For maintenance, disconnect power, remove the canister, replace exhausted media, rinse sponges or filter floss as needed, and clean the pump every few months.
