Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter Purple M - 500ml is a marine and reef aquarium bioculture featuring purple non-sulfur bacteria, including Rhodopseudomonas palustris, to help consume unwanted nutrients, improve water clarity, and support a healthier aquarium microbiome.

MicroBacter Purple M is designed for reef and marine aquariums where nutrient recycling, biological balance, and water clarity are important. Its blend of non-pathogenic aerobic and anaerobic microbes helps support nitrification, denitrification, and organic waste degradation through complete nutrient remineralization.

Brightwell MicroBacter Purple M Appearance and Storage Notes
- Size: 500 ml bottle.
- Use: Marine and reef aquariums.
- Product type: Purple non-sulfur bacteria and beneficial microbe blend.
- Contains R. palustris PNSB along with other non-pathogenic aerobic and anaerobic microbes.
- The liquid is purposely not purple in the bottle and will usually appear cream or tan.
- Does not require refrigeration; storage at room temperature with light helps prolong activity and maximize shelf life.
MicroBacter Purple M Dosing Directions for Reef Aquariums
Shake well before use. Add to an area of good flow or to external biological filtration when applicable. Do not add directly into pump intake ports. For medium- to high-nutrient marine and reef aquariums, dose 1.25 ml per US gallon weekly or more often if desired for the first two weeks, then switch to the low-nutrient dosage once water quality improves. For stable low-nutrient systems, dose 5 ml per 50 US gallons once weekly or 1 ml per 50 US gallons daily. Turn protein skimming and UV sterilization off for 24 hours after dosing. Clean any pipette used below the water line with purified water before returning it to the bottle.

- Upon request, we will ship your dry goods as per your specifications (courier, airlines, on your account, etc.).

Return Policy — Aquarium Equipment & Supplies
- All returns and/or exchanges must be made within 30 days of receipt of product.
- Before returning or exchanging any goods, you must contact J&L Aquatics to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). Items returned without prior authorization will be declined.
- Returned items must be unused, in original packaging, in as-new condition, and in perfect sellable condition. All returns are subject to inspection upon receipt.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all online returns. This fee includes the cost of outbound shipping.
- Customer is responsible for return shipping costs on standard returns.
- Order cancellations made before shipping are not subject to a restocking fee.

Defective, Warranty & DOA Items

- Confirmed defective and warranty returns have no restocking fee and no Affirm fee. Customer does not pay return shipping — J&L Aquatics will provide a prepaid return label.
- All defective claims are subject to inspection. Items showing signs of customer damage, improper installation, or misuse are not covered under warranty.

Affirm & Financing Orders
- Affirm or similar financing orders that are cancelled or returned in-store are subject to a 5% service charge. This covers the processing fee charged to us by the financing provider.
- The Affirm service charge does not apply to confirmed defective or warranty returns.
