Apple Snails are one of the most beloved snails in the hobby because of their colour varieties and ability to grow as big as 6” in diameter. Apple snails come in different shell colours, body colours, and even band patterning on the shells. Like Mystery Snails they require air to breathe and use what is called a siphon to extend out of the water to intake air when needed. Like many snails they produce a lot of bio-load, so a tank minimum of 3g per apple snail is recommended to keep your water quality in good shape. They will eat virtually anything, scouring the tank for food that was missed during fish feeding time. Sinking pellets and an occasional blanched vegetable slice or lettuce leaf will also make these snails quite happy. A temperature between 70-80°F and pH between 6.5-8.0 will keep these snails happy
