Tunze DOC Protein Skimmer - 9410
The Tunze DOC Protein Skimmer - 9410 is an efficient in-sump protein skimmer for reef aquariums up to 1000 litres, depending on organic load and reef sensitivity. It uses the Hydrofoamer Silence 9410.040 to generate fine air bubbles with high air intake and low power consumption, while the removable post-filter and Anti-Overfoaming System support stable, clean operation.
Special order item; availability may vary.
Tunze 9410 In-Sump Skimmer for Serious Reef Filtration
The DOC Skimmer 9410 is built for aquariums that need strong skimming performance in a compact sump footprint. The Hydrofoamer supplies both air and aquarium water to the skimmer, producing fine bubbles for organic removal while the skimmer body, foam reactor, and post-filter work together to return cleaner water to the system.
DOC 9410 Hydrofoamer and Anti-Overfoaming Features
- Hydrofoamer Silence 9410.040: Produces large volumes of fine bubbles approximately 0.1 to 0.3 mm in diameter.
- High air performance: Approximate 600 L/h air capacity supports strong protein removal.
- Integrated water feed: Approximate 900 L/h water flow supplies aquarium water directly to the skimmer.
- Low energy use: Uses 11 W at 230 V or 15 W at 115 V for efficient continuous operation.
- Anti-Overfoaming System: Patented design helps regulate skimming action based on water level and surface tension changes.
- Post-filter outlet: Removable post-filter with nylon bag provides mechanical polishing and can hold suitable media.
- Ozone connection nipple: Supports ozone use when installed correctly to improve skimming and reduce yellowing compounds.
- Service-friendly design: Cup and foam reactor are designed for practical routine maintenance.

- Best application: Reef aquariums and marine systems needing efficient in-sump protein skimming.
- Biotope sensitivity: Use more conservative aquarium sizing for SPS reefs, high fish loads, or systems targeting very low nutrients.
- Post-filter option: The outlet post-filter can help polish water and may hold suitable media such as carbon or phosphate adsorber.
- Ozone compatibility: Use ozone only with proper equipment, safe dosing, and suitable aquarium ventilation practices.
- Water depth: Keep sump water level within the recommended immersion range for stable performance.
Tunze 9410 Setup Directions
- Install the skimmer in the sump at an immersion depth between 140 and 240 mm.
- Place the skimmer on a stable level surface with enough clearance to remove the cup and access the post-filter.
- Connect the Hydrofoamer and air system according to the Tunze instructions.
- Allow the skimmer to break in before making final tuning decisions.
- Empty and clean the foam cup regularly to maintain consistent skimming.
- Rinse or replace the post-filter bag as needed so outlet flow is not restricted.
