Seneye Reef Monitor
The Seneye Reef Monitor is a USB-powered reef aquarium monitoring system designed to continuously watch key water and lighting parameters so you can better understand what is happening in your aquarium between manual tests. Built for saltwater reef systems, it combines water monitoring, alert support, online graphing, and an integrated PAR, LUX, and Kelvin light meter for coral placement, light output tracking, and overall reef stability.
Seneye Reef Monitor for Continuous Reef Aquarium Monitoring
The Seneye Reef Monitor helps reef keepers track trends that are easy to miss with occasional manual testing. When connected through a supported internet-enabled setup, readings can be uploaded for online viewing, graphing, alerts, and trend analysis. This is especially useful for monitoring temperature swings, pH movement, free ammonia risk, water level status, and changes in reef lighting over time.
For reef aquariums, the built-in light meter is one of the key advantages. By measuring PAR, LUX, and Kelvin, the Seneye Reef Monitor can help evaluate whether corals and photosynthetic livestock are receiving suitable light quantity and quality. It can also help track how aquarium lights change as fixtures age or settings are adjusted.
Seneye Reef Monitor Features for Water Quality and Light Data
- Continuous aquarium monitoring: Watches multiple life-critical parameters instead of relying only on occasional spot checks.
- Reef-focused light measurement: Integrated PAR, LUX, and Kelvin monitoring helps evaluate coral lighting, plant lighting, lamp aging, and placement decisions.
- Online dashboard support: Readings can be stored online for easy viewing, trend tracking, and automatic graphing when connected through a supported internet-enabled setup.
- Early warning support: Seneye software can help forecast developing water quality issues before they become severe.
- Email and SMS alert capability: Alerts can be sent when supported connection and Seneye+ requirements are met.
- USB-powered device: Connects by USB with multiple connection options, including a Windows PC, optional Seneye Web Server, or optional USB power adapter depending on how the system is being used.
- Reef and planted aquarium usefulness: The light meter can be used for coral systems and planted aquariums where accurate light quantity and quality matter.
Some features require Seneye+. pH and free ammonia monitoring require a valid Seneye+ slide.
Seneye Reef Monitoring Parameters and System Requirements
- Monitored parameters: Temperature, free ammonia (NH3), pH, water level, LUX, Kelvin, and PAR.
- Free ammonia: Monitors toxic NH3 at very low levels when a valid Seneye+ slide is active.
- pH range: Monitors aquarium or pond pH between 6.4 and 9 when used with a valid Seneye+ slide.
- Light meter: Measures LUX, Kelvin, and Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) for aquarium lighting evaluation.
- Reading frequency: Seneye lists the system as constantly watching the aquarium with 5600 readings per month.
- Connection: USB device with multiple connection options; optional accessories are sold separately.
- Manufacturer part number: SEN000048.
- Computer requirements: Windows PC with internet access, supported Windows version, full speed USB 1.0 port or better, minimum 1 GHz processor, 128 MB RAM, compatible internet browser, and Seneye Connect application download when using a PC.
- Compatibility note: Not compatible with Belkin Base or virtual USB extenders.
Seneye Reef Monitor Compatibility and Seneye+ Notes
- Best use: Saltwater reef aquariums where water quality trends and coral lighting data are important.
- Seneye+ slide: Required for pH and NH3 monitoring and must be replaced regularly for accurate active slide readings.
- Optional USB power adapter: Allows the device to remain powered without a PC; readings can be stored and uploaded later when reconnected to a supported upload method.
- Optional network connection: A supported PC connection or Seneye Web Server setup is used when continuous online uploads, dashboard access, and remote alerts are desired.
- Placement: Install the device where it remains submerged and where the light sensor can be positioned appropriately for the type of measurement being taken.
