I have used this product before, on a well established tank that is properly maintained.

As with many other specialty media, it is often difficult to give a value on how well the product works.

This specific product claims to remove proteins, nitrites and nitrates, ammonia, and a broad spectrum of organics, yet its impact on trace elements is minimal. It significantly raises redox.

Now as to the claims, it is difficult to say if it "works" or not.

A well cycled tank well maintained should have no measurable traces of ammonia or nitrite and what I call a "whiff" of nitrates, barely detectable.
I don't know any test kits that can measure proteins or organics in the water.

When I use it on my tank, I can't test if it makes a difference or not.

I ordered it because this time I want to use it in a reactor instead of a filter, for testing purposes. I already have crystal clear water with good parameters.

Purigen is essential filter media in any aquarium I setup. It simply works better than anything else that I've tried for water clarity. Great price and it's renewable!

I use Purigen in all my tanks and even at 30" wife the water is crystal clear.
