The Reef Octopus Regal 300-EXT Protein Skimmer is a large external recirculating skimmer for demanding reef aquariums, commercial-style systems and fish rooms that need powerful skimming with independent feed-rate control.
Regal 300-EXT External Recirculating Skimmer Control
The Regal 300-EXT is designed for advanced installations where the skimmer can be plumbed outside the sump. A separate feed pump supplies aquarium water while the recirculating VarioS-6S skimmer pump controls the internal air-water mix, giving the user greater control over dwell time, throughput, placement and nutrient export than a conventional in-sump skimmer.

External Skimmer Planning Notes
Manufacturer guidance rates this model for up to 700 gallons with light bioload, 600 gallons with medium bioload and 500 gallons with heavy bioload. Because this is an external recirculating skimmer, plumbing layout, return path, drain routing and leak management must be planned carefully. Install only where overflow or plumbing failure can be safely contained.

Directions
Install the skimmer externally on a level surface with secure feed, return and drain plumbing. Use an appropriately sized feed pump and leak-test the full installation before normal operation. Confirm that water can return safely to the sump and that the skimmer cannot siphon or overflow into an unsafe area. Start the VarioS pump at a conservative setting, tune feed rate and output gradually, and monitor closely during break-in. Clean the cup, neck, recirculating pump, air intake and feed plumbing regularly.

Return Policy — Aquarium Equipment & Supplies
- All returns and/or exchanges must be made within 30 days of receipt of product.
- Before returning or exchanging any goods, you must contact J&L Aquatics to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). Items returned without prior authorization will be declined.
- Returned items must be unused, in original packaging, in as-new condition, and in perfect sellable condition. All returns are subject to inspection upon receipt.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all online returns. This fee includes the cost of outbound shipping.
- Customer is responsible for return shipping costs on standard returns.
- Order cancellations made before shipping are not subject to a restocking fee.

Defective, Warranty & DOA Items

- Confirmed defective and warranty returns have no restocking fee and no Affirm fee. Customer does not pay return shipping — J&L Aquatics will provide a prepaid return label.
- All defective claims are subject to inspection. Items showing signs of customer damage, improper installation, or misuse are not covered under warranty.
