Product Description
Reef Octopus Regal 250-INT Protein Skimmer
The Reef Octopus Regal 250-INT Protein Skimmer is a high-capacity controllable in-sump skimmer for large reef aquariums, heavily stocked marine systems and fish rooms that need strong nutrient export with precise DC pump control.
Regal 250-INT In-Sump Skimming for Large Reef Systems
The Regal 250-INT uses a traditional in-sump layout with the VarioS-6S pump mounted outside the skimmer body for easier pump access and service. Its 10 inch hybrid conical body provides a large reaction chamber for organic waste removal, while variable-speed pump control lets the skimmer be tuned to suit changing bioload, feeding intensity and nutrient goals.
Reef Octopus Regal 250-INT Features
- High-capacity in-sump design: Built for larger reef and marine aquariums where strong skimming and service access are priorities.
- VarioS-6S controllable pump: Variable-speed DC control adjusts the air and water mix electronically instead of relying only on water-level tuning.
- 10 inch hybrid conical body: Large cast acrylic body helps stabilize rising foam and concentrate dissolved organics.
- Five power settings: Allows the skimmer to be adjusted for lighter nutrient loads or aggressive export on heavier systems.
- Float switch safety input: Included float switch can be connected to the VarioS controller for added overflow protection.
- 15 and 60 minute pause modes: Useful during feeding, collection cup cleaning and maintenance.
- 0-10V input: Allows compatible third-party aquarium controllers to manage pump speed when properly connected.
- Serviceable construction: Solid acrylic body and accessible pump layout support long-term maintenance.
Bioload and Sump Planning
Manufacturer guidance rates this model for up to 635 gallons with light bioload, 500 gallons with medium bioload and 300 gallons with heavy bioload. For large reef systems, choose the rating that matches actual fish load, feeding style and nutrient export goals rather than display volume alone. The standard INT layout is best when sump footprint is available and pump access is preferred over the smallest possible footprint.
