The Reef Octopus Regal 200-EXT Protein Skimmer is an external recirculating protein skimmer for larger marine aquariums that need high control over contact time, feed rate and skimmer placement outside the sump.
External Recirculating Regal 200-EXT Skimming
The Regal 200-EXT uses a recirculating design, meaning the VarioS skimmer pump mixes air and water inside the skimmer while a separate feed pump supplies aquarium water to be processed. This gives advanced reef keepers more control over flow-through rate, placement and tuning than a standard in-sump skimmer.

External Skimmer Application Notes
Manufacturer bioload guidance rates the Regal 200-EXT for up to 400 gallons with light bioload, 300 gallons with medium bioload and 200 gallons with heavy bioload. Because this is an external recirculating skimmer, it requires a separate feed pump and careful plumbing. It should be installed where leaks can be safely managed and where the skimmer can drain or return water correctly.

Directions
Install the skimmer on a level surface outside the sump with secure feed, return and drain plumbing. Use a correctly sized feed pump, leak-test all plumbing with freshwater where possible and confirm the return path cannot flood the area if flow stops. Start the skimmer at a conservative pump setting, tune the feed rate and skimmer output gradually, and monitor closely during the break-in period. Clean the collection cup, neck, pump and air intake regularly.

Return Policy — Aquarium Equipment & Supplies
- All returns and/or exchanges must be made within 30 days of receipt of product.
- Before returning or exchanging any goods, you must contact J&L Aquatics to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). Items returned without prior authorization will be declined.
- Returned items must be unused, in original packaging, in as-new condition, and in perfect sellable condition. All returns are subject to inspection upon receipt.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all online returns. This fee includes the cost of outbound shipping.
- Customer is responsible for return shipping costs on standard returns.
- Order cancellations made before shipping are not subject to a restocking fee.

Defective, Warranty & DOA Items
- If you receive an item that is defective, not working, or dead on arrival (DOA), please contact us as soon as possible.
- Confirmed defective and warranty returns have no restocking fee and no Affirm fee. Customer does not pay return shipping — J&L Aquatics will provide a prepaid return label.
- All defective claims are subject to inspection. Items showing signs of customer damage, improper installation, or misuse are not covered under warranty.
