Product Description
Reef Octopus CR140 Calcium Reactor
The Reef Octopus CR140 Calcium Reactor is a single-chamber calcium reactor for reef aquariums that need steady calcium, alkalinity and trace element replacement with a larger media capacity than the CR100.
CR140 Calcium Reactor for Growing Reef Demand
The CR140 is designed for reef aquariums with higher mineral consumption from stony corals, coralline algae and clams. It uses reverse-flow circulation to improve contact between aquarium water, CO2 and calcium reactor media, helping dissolve media efficiently and deliver a stable mineral-rich effluent back to the aquarium.
Reef Octopus CR140 Features
- 5.5 inch reactor body: Larger chamber provides more media capacity for reef systems with higher demand.
- Reverse-flow circulation: Helps increase contact time with media and improves reactor efficiency.
- Built-in bubble counter: Gives a visual guide for CO2 adjustment during setup and tuning.
- pH probe holder: Allows chamber pH monitoring when used with a separate pH probe and controller.
- Aquatrance recirculation pump: Keeps water moving through the media chamber for consistent output.
- Precision effluent valve: Helps fine tune output to match the aquarium's daily alkalinity usage.
- Removable lid: Makes media refills and routine cleaning easier.
Reef Chemistry and Tuning Notes
The CR140 is intended for reef aquariums where demand has outgrown basic manual supplementation or where stable daily replacement is preferred. Use alkalinity testing as the main tuning reference, and make changes gradually to avoid sudden parameter swings.

Directions
Fill the chamber with compatible calcium reactor media, connect a feed source and CO2 regulator, and route the effluent safely back to the sump. Begin with conservative CO2 and effluent settings, then test alkalinity daily while the reactor is being dialed in. Adjust in small increments and allow the reactor to stabilize before making further changes. Maintain feed pressure slightly higher than a full-flowing influent for consistent feed delivery.
