Product Description
Reef Octopus CR100 Calcium Reactor
The Reef Octopus CR100 Calcium Reactor is a compact single-chamber calcium reactor for reef aquariums that need automated calcium, alkalinity and trace element support without taking up excessive cabinet space.
Compact Calcium Reactor for Smaller Reef Aquariums
The CR100 is suited to reef keepers ready to move beyond manual two-part dosing or who want a more continuous method of replacing calcium and carbonate alkalinity. By circulating aquarium water and CO2 through aragonite media, the reactor dissolves media slowly and returns mineral-rich effluent to the aquarium.
Reef Octopus CR100 Features
- Compact reactor body: 4 inch chamber size fits smaller sump and cabinet layouts.
- Reverse-flow design: Helps maximize water and CO2 contact time with the calcium reactor media.
- Built-in bubble counter: Provides a visual reference for CO2 bubble rate during tuning.
- pH probe holder: Allows reactor chamber pH monitoring when paired with a compatible probe and controller.
- Aquatrance recirculation pump: Keeps water moving through the media chamber for consistent dissolution.
- Precision effluent adjustment: Helps match reactor output to aquarium calcium and alkalinity demand.
- Removable lid: Makes media refilling and maintenance more straightforward.
Reef Chemistry Application Notes
The CR100 is a good match for smaller reef aquariums with moderate calcium and alkalinity consumption. A calcium reactor should be tuned by testing alkalinity regularly, then adjusting effluent rate and CO2 input gradually until daily consumption is matched.

Directions
Install the reactor near the sump, add compatible calcium reactor media and connect a suitable feed source, CO2 regulator and return effluent line. Start with a slow effluent flow and low CO2 bubble rate, then test alkalinity daily while tuning. Increase or decrease CO2 and effluent in small steps only, allowing time for the aquarium and reactor to respond. Maintain feed pressure slightly higher than a full-flowing influent for stable operation.
