The sump provides room for compatible filtration equipment while allowing the customer to choose between manually maintained filter bags and optional automatic roller filtration.

• Two 225-micron filter bags: The supplied fine-mesh mechanical filters capture suspended debris entering from the overflow and can be removed for cleaning.
• Two filter media cups: The mechanical filtration compartment includes cups for alternative filtration arrangements.
• ReefMat-ready design: The removable mechanical filtration section can be converted for compatible automated fleece filtration without rebuilding the standard aquarium plumbing.

• Recommended return pump: Red Sea specifies one ReefRun G2 8000 for the corresponding MAX S-700 G3+. It is sold separately with the standard system.
• Lighting reference: Red Sea uses three ReefLED G2 170 fixtures in the MAX S-700 package. Lighting for this system should cover the 150 x 68 cm (59.1 x 26.8 inch) footprint with suitable intensity for the planned corals.
• Protein skimmer reference: The MAX configuration uses an RSK DC 900. Alternative skimmers should be checked for chamber fitment and the adjustable 21-27 cm operating depth.

Directions

• Confirm that the installation location can support the fully loaded aquarium and provides suitable delivery access and maintenance clearance.
• Assemble and level the white anodized aluminum cabinet frame according to Red Sea's instructions. Arrange adequate lifting assistance before positioning the heavy glass aquarium.
• Install the REEF-SPEC sump, overflow, ReefGate valve, and supplied drain and return plumbing with all connectors and seals correctly fitted.
• Mount ReefControl Pro and install the ATO Module's digital level and temperature sensor and top-off pump according to the manufacturer instructions. Provide a separate suitable freshwater reservoir.
• Use the slide-out control panel to arrange compatible electronics and dosing hardware with appropriate access for maintenance.
• Install the selected return pump, protein skimmer, lighting, heating, and circulation equipment. Set the skimmer operating water level within the adjustable 21-27 cm range to suit the chosen skimmer.
• Follow Red Sea's initial-fill and leak-inspection instructions. Tune the ReefGate valve in small increments and allow the overflow level to stabilize between adjustments.
• Perform a power-out test to verify that the sump can accommodate drain-back water when return circulation stops.
• Maintain the mechanical filtration components, overflow combs, and ATO sensor regularly. Establish biological filtration before introducing livestock.
• Register the aquarium with Red Sea within 90 days of purchase to qualify for the extended manufacturer warranty.
