The Red Sea Reefer 200 G3+ - Black Cabinet is a 200 litre (52.8 US gallon) reef-ready aquarium system combining a 158 litre (41.7 gallon) eurobraced ultra-clear glass display, 42 litre (11.1 gallon) REEF-SPEC sump, reinforced black marine-spec plywood cabinet, and integrated ReefControl Lite automation. With a compact 60 cm (23.6 inch) length and generous 57.5 cm (22.6 inch) front-to-back depth, it provides a practical foundation for aquarists who want a customized saltwater reef without sacrificing aquascaping depth.

The REEFER 200 G3+ introduces two important upgrades over the previous generation: eurobraced glass construction and the included ReefControl Lite Controller with ReefControl ATO Module. Together with Red Sea's ReefGate precision valve, hydrodynamically optimized plumbing, removable ReefMat-ready mechanical filtration compartment, and adjustable skimmer chamber, the system offers the essential infrastructure for a custom reef with built-in automatic top-off and temperature monitoring. Lighting, return pump, protein skimmer, and circulation equipment are selected separately.

• Compact 60 cm (23.6 inch) length: The aquarium occupies a relatively short wall space while retaining a separate sump for filtration and equipment below the display.
• 57.5 cm (22.6 inch) aquascaping depth: The front-to-back dimension provides room to arrange rock islands, open sand areas, and coral placements at different depths instead of concentrating the entire reef against the back glass.
• Eurobraced ultra-clear glass: The G3+ design uses 10 mm (0.39 inch) perimeter eurobracing and high-quality euro-silicone bonding for additional structural reinforcement, replacing the rimless construction of the previous 200 G3.
• 10 mm (0.39 inch) front viewing panel: Ultra-clear low-iron glass reduces the greenish tint associated with ordinary glass and helps preserve the appearance of coral colours and marine livestock.
• Reinforced black marine-spec cabinet: The laminated plywood stand supports the aquarium and features splash-resistant epoxy-painted doors, stainless steel hinges, and adjustable leveling feet.
• Choose your remaining equipment: The base REEFER configuration allows return circulation, reef lighting, skimming, wavemakers, and additional controls to be selected according to the intended aquarium rather than supplied as a fixed MAX package.

ReefControl Lite and Smart Automatic Top-Off

Unlike a conventional bare reef-ready aquarium, the REEFER 200 G3+ includes a ReefControl Lite Controller and ReefControl ATO Module. This provides automatic freshwater top-off and temperature monitoring from the start, with additional ReefSense monitoring available as the aquarium develops.

• ReefControl Lite included: The controller supports up to two compatible ReefSense digital probes or sensors and one additional 12V DC device, allowing selected monitoring and control functions to be added separately.
• Automatic freshwater replenishment: The ReefControl ATO Module uses a digital water-level sensor and dedicated DC pump to replace evaporated freshwater, helping maintain consistent sump water level and salinity.
• Integrated temperature sensor: The digital ATO level sensor also monitors aquarium temperature, providing readings and notifications through the ReefControl system.
• Included ATO installation hardware: The module incorporates the level sensor, mounting hardware, top-off pump, tubing, tube holder, and siphon breaker required for its water-delivery arrangement.
• ReefBeat integration: ReefControl allows compatible monitoring and connected equipment to be managed through Red Sea's ReefBeat ecosystem, including optional ReefSense probes and ReefControl Power.
• Expandable without replacing the controller: Additional compatible sensors can be selected when water-parameter monitoring is needed. The larger ReefControl Pro and additional ReefSense probes are not included with this standard G3+ 200 package.

Quiet ReefGate Overflow and Hydrodynamic Plumbing

The REEFER 200 G3+ uses an enlarged rectangular downflow inlet to direct water from the central overflow into the sump with reduced turbulence. Its redesigned pipework uses improved flow geometry, while the ReefGate precision valve provides fine adjustment of the drainage rate for quieter and more consistent operation.

• High-precision ReefGate valve: Small adjustments help balance water entering the sump against the selected return pump and maintain the intended operating level inside the overflow.
• Removable surface-skimming combs: The overflow collects water from the aquarium surface through accessible comb sections that can be removed for cleaning.
• Improved G3+ plumbing: Hydrodynamically designed connections, including 45-degree bends in the compact models, reduce restrictions associated with sharper turns in the water path.
• Single curved 25 mm (approximately 1 inch) return: The outlet directs filtered water back into the display, replacing the smaller return connection used on earlier compact configurations.
• Main and secondary drainage: The overflow incorporates a regulated primary downpipe and secondary bypass as part of the system's water-management arrangement.
• Factory-designed pipework: The supplied plumbing provides the drain and return infrastructure without requiring a completely custom overflow installation. Optional metric and USA connection kits are available for customized plumbing.

REEF-SPEC Sump and ReefMat-Ready Filtration

The included 42 litre (11.1 US gallon) sump keeps filtration equipment beneath the aquarium and provides a dedicated mechanical filtration area, adjustable protein skimmer chamber, and return pump compartment. Its removable filtration section also allows conversion to compatible automatic roller filtration.

• 225-micron mechanical filter bag: One fine-mesh filter bag is supplied to collect suspended particles and debris entering the sump from the overflow.
• ReefMat-ready compartment: The removable mechanical filtration section can be converted for compatible automatic fleece filtration without rebuilding the standard drain plumbing.
• Optional ReefMat 250: Red Sea pairs this model with the ReefMat 250 in the corresponding MAX package, providing an identified roller-filter upgrade path for the standard system.
• Adjustable skimmer water level: The skimmer chamber can be set between 17 and 23 cm (6.7-9.1 inches) to accommodate the operating-depth requirements of compatible protein skimmers.
• Bubble-management system: The sump directs water through a bubble-stripping section before the return pump chamber to help reduce air bubbles entering the display.
• Compact sump limitation: The 200 G3+ does not have the optional dedicated refugium-divider feature of the larger 300 G3+. Customers planning a separate refugium should account for this difference before choosing their system.

Equipment Selection for the REEFER 200 G3+

The 200 G3+ provides a foundation for a carefully planned marine fish, soft coral, LPS, or mixed reef aquarium. Its compact length and relatively deep footprint suit layered aquascapes, but equipment selection should account for the available sump space and the needs of the intended livestock.

• Recommended return pump: Red Sea specifies one ReefRun G2 4000 for the corresponding MAX 200 configuration. The return pump is sold separately with this base system.
• Reef lighting: Red Sea uses one ReefLED G2 115 in the MAX 200 package. For a customized system, choose lighting appropriate for the 60 x 57.5 cm (23.6 x 22.6 inch) footprint and the planned coral species.
• Protein skimmer selection: Confirm that the skimmer fits the sump chamber and operates correctly within its adjustable 17-23 cm (6.7-9.1 inch) water level.
• Additional circulation: Separately selected wavemakers can direct water around rockwork and coral colonies independently of the sump return.
• Top-off reservoir: Plan a suitable freshwater reservoir for the included ATO pump and tubing. The ATO system replenishes evaporation but still requires a supply of freshwater.
• 200 versus 300: The larger REEFER 300 G3+ adds 30 cm (11.8 inches) of aquarium length, increases total volume to 300 litres (approximately 79.3 gallons), and provides a larger sump with optional refugium-divider compatibility. Both models include ReefControl Lite.

• All shipments outside the Vancouver area are sent by trucking company with fully insured residential delivery and power tailgate service.

Directions

• Assemble the black marine-spec cabinet according to Red Sea's instructions and level all adjustable feet before positioning and filling the aquarium.
• Install the REEF-SPEC sump, overflow, and supplied pipework with all connectors and seals correctly positioned.
• Connect the included ReefControl Lite, ATO level and temperature sensor, and top-off pump according to the manufacturer instructions. Position the top-off pump in a suitable freshwater reservoir.
• Install a compatible return pump and selected lighting, heating, skimming, and circulation equipment before starting the aquarium.
• Follow the manufacturer's initial-fill and plumbing inspection procedure. Adjust the skimmer chamber operating level to suit the chosen protein skimmer.
• Adjust the ReefGate gradually after starting the return pump, allowing several minutes for the overflow water level to stabilize between adjustments.
• Perform a power-out test to ensure the sump can accommodate water draining from the display when the return pump stops.
• Maintain the filter bag, overflow combs, return outlet, and ATO level sensor to prevent deposits or debris from affecting operation.
• Register the aquarium with Red Sea within 90 days of purchase to qualify for the extended manufacturer warranty.
