Red Sea Reef-Frame 350 - Black Cabinet
The Red Sea Reef-Frame 350 - Black Cabinet is a 353 litre (93.4 US gallon) reef-ready aquarium system combining a 282 litre (74.5 gallon) eurobraced ultra-clear glass display, a spacious 71 litre (18.8 gallon) REEF-SPEC filtration sump, and reinforced black marine-spec plywood cabinetry. Measuring 120 cm (47.2 inches) long and 55 cm (21.7 inches) from front to back, it provides a larger reefscaping platform for aquarists who want more room for coral colonies, open swimming areas, and advanced filtration equipment.
The REEF-FRAME 350 introduces an important feature not found on the smaller 170 and 250 models: dual curved 25 mm return outlets that can be operated using a single return pump or two separate pumps. Along with Red Sea's ReefGate precision flow valve, enlarged quiet downflow, adjustable skimmer chamber, optional refugium divider, and removable ReefMat-ready filtration compartment, the system provides a flexible foundation for a custom reef aquarium. Lighting, return pumps, skimmer, wavemakers, and electronic controls are selected separately.
Red Sea Reef-Frame 350 Black Aquarium Features
- 120 cm (47.2 inch) display length: The longer aquarium provides room for separated reef structures, extended coral gardens, and open swimming channels that are difficult to achieve in smaller reef systems.
- 282 litre (74.5 gallon) display volume: The main aquarium offers substantially more reefscaping space than the REEF-FRAME 250 while keeping filtration equipment below the display.
- Eurobraced ultra-clear glass: Perimeter reinforcement provides added structural strength, while a 12 mm (0.47 inch) ultra-clear front viewing panel and high-quality euro-silicone support the glass construction.
- 55 cm (21.7 inch) aquascaping depth: The wider front-to-back dimension provides additional room for branching coral growth, multi-level rock structures, and circulation around larger aquascapes.
- Reinforced black cabinet: The marine-spec plywood stand supports the perimeter of the aquarium and includes stainless steel hinges, splash-resistant doors, and adjustable leveling feet.
- Customizable reef equipment: The standard bare system allows aquarists to choose their own lights, return pump arrangement, protein skimmer, wavemakers, and monitoring equipment rather than purchasing a fixed MAX equipment package.
Dual 25 mm Returns and ReefGate Flow Control
The REEF-FRAME 350 uses Red Sea's enlarged rectangular downflow inlet and hydrodynamically designed plumbing to move aquarium water into the sump with reduced turbulence. A high-precision ReefGate valve regulates drainage, while dual curved return outlets offer more flexibility than the single-outlet arrangements used on smaller REEF-FRAME models.
- Dual curved return outlets: Two 25 mm (approximately 1 inch) outlets return filtered water to the aquarium and can be connected to one return pump or two separate pumps, depending on the installation.
- ReefGate precision valve: The main downflow can be adjusted in small increments to regulate the water level inside the overflow and support quiet sump operation.
- Secondary overflow bypass: The drainage system incorporates a regulated main downpipe and secondary bypass pipe as part of its water-management arrangement.
- Surface-skimming overflow: The central overflow collects water through removable comb sections, directing surface film and floating debris toward the filtration sump.
- Hydrodynamically optimized plumbing: Factory-designed pipework helps limit flow restrictions, while optional metric and USA connection kits allow customized plumbing configurations.
REEF-SPEC Sump with 71 Litres of Filtration Space
The larger 71 litre (18.8 gallon) sump is one of the REEF-FRAME 350's key advantages over the 250. It provides more space for filtration equipment while retaining adjustable skimmer water depth, optional refugium separation, and compatibility with automatic roller filtration.
- Adjustable skimmer chamber: Operating water depth can be set between 17 and 23 cm (6.7-9.1 inches), allowing compatible protein skimmers to be positioned at their required working level.
- 225-micron mechanical filter bag: The supplied fine-mesh bag captures suspended particles entering the sump and can be removed for cleaning.
- Filter media cup: One media cup is included as part of the mechanical filtration compartment, providing an alternative filtration option.
- ReefMat-ready design: The removable filter-bag tray and divider can be taken out to accommodate compatible automated fleece filtration. Red Sea specifies the ReefMat 500 in the corresponding REEF-FRAME MAX 350 equipment package.
- Optional refugium divider: A compatible divider can create a separate refugium area within the sump, allowing the aquarist to plan additional biological filtration or nutrient-management methods.
- Bubble-management section: Water passes through a bubble-trap arrangement with coarse sponge before entering the return chamber, helping prevent skimmer-generated bubbles from reaching the display.
Planning a Larger Reef with the REEF-FRAME 350
The REEF-FRAME 350 is intended for aquarists building a more expansive marine fish or coral aquarium with individually selected equipment. Its longer display, larger sump, and dual return outlets provide practical differences from the 250, particularly when planning circulation, protein skimming, and optional filtration upgrades.
- Recommended return pump: Red Sea specifies one ReefRun G2 6000 with an adjustable flow range of 3,600-6,500 L/h (950-1,700 US gph), sold separately.
- Single or dual return planning: The two return outlets provide flexibility for a single-pump installation or separate pumps. Pump and plumbing selection should account for the desired flow distribution and equipment arrangement.
- Lighting coverage: Select reef lighting suitable for the 120 x 55 cm (47.2 x 21.7 inch) footprint and the intensity requirements of the intended corals. Multiple fixtures may be considered when planning even coverage across the longer display.
- Protein skimmer fitment: Choose a skimmer that fits the sump and operates correctly within the adjustable 17-23 cm (6.7-9.1 inch) water-depth range.
- Supplementary circulation: Wavemakers can provide additional water movement around rock structures and coral colonies independently of the sump return outlets.
- Automatic top-off: An ATO system is recommended to maintain stable sump water level and salinity. Automatic top-off equipment and ReefControl hardware are not included with this standard bare-system configuration.
- 250 versus 350: The 350 adds 30 cm (11.8 inches) of display length, a larger 71 litre (18.8 gallon) sump, and dual return connections, making these meaningful considerations when choosing between the two models.

Directions
- Choose a location capable of supporting approximately 547 kg (1,205 lb). Red Sea specifies at least 10 cm (4 inches) of rear clearance and recommends approximately 60 cm (24 inches) of side access for maintenance.
- Assemble and level the reinforced black cabinet before positioning the aquarium, following Red Sea's installation instructions. The glass aquarium weighs approximately 97 kg (214 lb), so arrange suitable assistance for lifting.
- Install the sump and plumbing with all connector O-rings correctly seated. Hand-tighten threaded connections without tools or overtightening.
- Choose and install the return pump configuration, protein skimmer, and other equipment before filling the aquarium. Follow the manufacturer's initial-fill procedure and inspect plumbing connections for leaks.
- Adjust the skimmer chamber operating depth to the requirements of the selected protein skimmer.
- Tune the ReefGate valve gradually, allowing several minutes after each adjustment for the overflow water level to stabilize.
- Perform a power-out test to ensure the sump can accommodate water draining from the aquarium when the return pump stops.
- Clean the mechanical filter bag, media cup, removable overflow combs, and return nozzles as required during routine maintenance.
- Register the aquarium with Red Sea within 90 days of purchase to qualify for the extended manufacturer warranty.
