Product Description
Neptune IO Breakout Box
Neptune IO Breakout Box is an Apex accessory that makes it easier to connect external switches, float switches, push buttons, and other simple input devices to compatible Neptune controllers.
Easy Switch Inputs for Apex Control
The IO Breakout Box gives hobbyists a cleaner way to add physical switch inputs to an Apex system without soldering directly to a connector. It is commonly used for float switches, cabinet buttons, water-on-floor sensors, maintenance switches, feed buttons, reservoir level switches, and other dry-contact input applications.
Neptune IO Breakout Box Features
- Adds simple switch-input connections to compatible Neptune controllers
- Quick-connect terminals make wiring easier with no soldering required
- 5 foot cable plugs into the controller I/O connector
- Supports up to 6 digital inputs on Apex, Apex Lite, and PX 1000 compatible installations
- Supports up to 4 digital inputs on AC3Pro compatible installations
- Supports up to 2 digital inputs on AC3 compatible installations
- Recommended for use with 18 to 24 gauge stranded wire
- Two mounting holes help secure the box inside a stand or controller cabinet
Apex Breakout Box Applications
Switch inputs can add practical control and protection to an aquarium system. A float switch can trigger a sump-level alarm, a cabinet button can start a maintenance routine, a reservoir switch can warn that top-off water is low, and a floor sensor can help detect leaks. When programmed properly, these inputs can also trigger alerts or equipment changes through the Apex system.

Compatibility and Use Notes
The IO Breakout Box is intended for compatible Neptune controller I/O ports and simple switch-style input devices. It is not designed for direct mains-voltage wiring. Only connect compatible low-voltage dry-contact switch inputs, and confirm wiring before using inputs for critical aquarium protection routines.
Setup Directions
Mount the breakout box in a dry, protected location, plug the cable into the controller I/O port, and connect switch wires to the quick-connect terminals. Name and configure each input in the Apex system, then test every switch, alert, and control action before relying on it for aquarium automation.
