Neptune Apex A3 Junior Aquarium Controller
The Neptune Apex A3 Junior Aquarium Controller is an entry-level Apex monitoring system for aquarists who want Neptune's core temperature, pH, leak, and water-level monitoring with room to expand into full equipment control later.
Apex A3 Junior Monitoring with Upgrade Potential
The Apex A3 Junior is designed for aquarists who want the protection and visibility of an Apex system without starting with the full Energy Bar package. It includes the A3 Junior base unit, pH probe, temperature probe, solid-surface leak detection probe, magnetic optical sensor, power supply, calibration solutions, and built-in FMM accessory ports. This makes it a strong choice for smaller reef tanks, nano systems, freshwater displays, fish-only aquariums, or hobbyists who want monitoring first and full equipment control later.
The Junior is not just a basic alarm box. It connects to Apex Fusion, monitors core conditions, supports alerts, and can be expanded with compatible Apex modules and Energy Bars. That gives the owner a practical path from entry-level monitoring to more advanced automation as the aquarium grows.
Neptune Apex A3 Junior Features
- Core Apex monitoring: Tracks important aquarium conditions including temperature and pH so changes can be seen before they become serious problems.
- Temperature probe included: Helps monitor aquarium temperature and alert the owner to heater, chiller, fan, room-temperature, or equipment-related issues.
- Lab-grade double-junction pH probe included: Allows continuous pH monitoring for reef tanks, planted systems, kalkwasser users, calcium reactor owners, or any system where pH stability matters.
- Leak detection included: The included solid-surface leak detection probe helps identify water outside the aquarium or sump area before a small leak becomes a bigger problem.
- Magnetic optical sensor included: Detects whether water is above or below the sensor location and can be used for water-level alerts, sump monitoring, reservoir monitoring, or future automation logic.
- Two built-in FMM ports: Provides direct connection points for compatible Neptune fluid-monitoring accessories and sensors.
- Built-in audible alarm: Adds local audible warning capability in addition to Apex Fusion notifications.
- Wi-Fi ready: Connects wirelessly for Apex Fusion monitoring and alerts without requiring a wired network run.
- Expandable Apex platform: Can be upgraded with compatible Energy Bars, modules, probes, sensors, and Apex accessories as the aquarium system becomes more complex.
- Control-ready design: Add a compatible Energy Bar or Apex module later to control aquarium equipment through Apex programming.

Why Choose the Apex A3 Junior
The Apex A3 Junior is best for customers who want the safety net of aquarium monitoring without paying for a full control package immediately. It is ideal for tracking temperature swings, pH trends, leaks around the stand, sump water-level conditions, and basic system status through Apex Fusion. For many hobbyists, this is the right first step into the Neptune ecosystem.
Because the Junior is expandable, it also avoids boxing the customer into a small-system controller. Add a compatible Energy Bar later and the system can become a true aquarium controller capable of switching equipment on and off based on sensor readings, schedules, feed modes, alarms, and custom programming.
Aquarium Use and Compatibility Notes
The Apex A3 Junior is suitable for reef aquariums, freshwater aquariums, nano tanks, fish-only systems, quarantine systems, and secondary tanks where monitoring and alerts are the priority. It is especially useful for customers who want to be notified of temperature problems, pH swings, leaks, or water-level changes without immediately building a full controller board.
The display module is not included with the Apex A3 Junior and is available separately. Because no Energy Bar is included, controllable power outlets are not included in the box; equipment control requires compatible Apex expansion hardware.
Setup and Installation Directions
Mount the Apex A3 Junior base unit in a dry, accessible location away from splashes, salt creep, and condensation. Connect the power supply, temperature probe, pH probe, leak sensor, and magnetic optical sensor, then follow Apex Fusion setup to connect the controller to Wi-Fi. Calibrate the pH probe with the included calibration solutions, place probes in stable high-flow areas, and test all alarms before relying on them. Add compatible Apex control hardware later if equipment automation is desired.
