Neptune Apex DOS Quiet Drive Dosing Pump
The Neptune Apex DOS Quiet Drive Dosing Pump is a high-end two-channel Apex dosing and fluid metering system for aquariums that need precise automated dosing, fluid transfer, or water-change control through Apex Fusion.
DOS Quiet Drive for Precision Reef Dosing
The DOS Quiet Drive is designed for aquarists who want more than a simple timed dosing pump. It integrates with the Apex ecosystem and Apex Fusion so dosing can be scheduled, adjusted, and monitored as part of the complete aquarium control system. It is well suited for 2-part calcium and alkalinity dosing, trace element additions, liquid supplements, automatic water changes, liquid food delivery, and other repeatable aquarium fluid tasks where consistency matters.
For reef systems using sensitive corals, high-demand alkalinity consumption, kalkwasser support, calcium reactor assistance, or automated testing workflows, the DOS Quiet Drive gives the aquarium a controllable dosing platform that can be configured around actual system needs rather than relying only on manual additions.
Neptune DOS Quiet Drive Features
- Two-channel dosing and fluid metering: Provides two independent dosing heads for paired additives, individual supplements, water-change setups, or other fluid movement tasks.
- QuietDrive operation: Engineered for quieter operation than earlier DOS versions, with motor operation and physical design focused on reducing dosing noise.
- QuietZone and continuous-duty flexibility: Supports quieter dosing behaviour and continuous-duty range options for smoother dosing or water-change style use.
- Apex Fusion dosing control: Configure dosing schedules and volumes through Apex Fusion rather than relying only on manual pump timing.
- Fusion dosing wizard support: Apex Fusion can assist with basic dosing setup for common aquarium additive routines.
- Trident-ready automation potential: Can be used in advanced Apex systems where dosing is adjusted based on compatible probe or Trident data.
- Industrial stepper motor: Uses a gearless direct-drive mechanism with a 5000 hour mean time before failure stepper motor design.
- High dosing range: Variable flow rate from 0.1 ml to 250 ml per minute for very small additions or larger fluid-transfer tasks.
- Strong lift and suction capability: Rated for 24 feet of lift height and 24 feet of suction height under manufacturer specifications.
- Secure compression fittings: Sure-fit compression fittings help maintain tubing security and airtight metering compared with basic barb-style dosing connections.
- Apex ecosystem integration: Designed for A2 or A3 Series Apex controllers and compatible Apex automation workflows.
DOS Quiet Drive Applications
The DOS Quiet Drive can be used for a wide range of advanced aquarium maintenance tasks. In reef aquariums, it is commonly used for calcium and alkalinity dosing, magnesium additions, trace elements, amino acids, nitrate or phosphate management supplements, and other liquid additives. In larger systems, it can also be used for automatic water changes, controlled fluid transfer, kalkwasser-related workflows, and liquid food or supplement delivery where the fluid is compatible with the pump and tubing setup.
When paired with the broader Apex ecosystem, dosing can be coordinated with testing, alerts, maintenance modes, feed modes, and other equipment. This makes the DOS Quiet Drive especially useful for reef tanks where stability is a priority and where manual dosing is too inconsistent for the system's demand.

Apex Compatibility and Installation Notes
The DOS Quiet Drive requires a compatible Apex controller and should be mounted in a dry, protected location away from splashes, salt spray, and high humidity. Use proper drip loops on all tubing and cables, and route dosing lines so they cannot siphon unintentionally. Dosing containers should be clearly labelled, and dosing lines should be secured so calcium, alkalinity, and other additives cannot be accidentally crossed.
For critical dosing applications, always verify calibration, dose volume, direction of flow, tubing condition, and programming before relying on the pump unattended. When dosing concentrated additives, start conservatively and monitor aquarium response before increasing daily volumes.
Setup Directions
Mount the DOS Quiet Drive in a dry accessible area, connect it to the compatible Apex system, install the dosing tubing, and configure each dosing head in Apex Fusion. Prime the lines, calibrate the pump heads using the fluid and tubing setup that will be used, then test each programmed dose into a measuring container before connecting the outlet lines to the aquarium or sump. Recheck calibration and tubing wear periodically as part of regular maintenance.
