Broad Biological Filtration with the Ista I-146
The Ista Round Bio-Sponge Aquarium Filter (Large) combines a broad sponge surface with a low-profile weighted base for dependable mechanical and biological filtration. Its air-driven operation draws aquarium water through the porous foam while rising bubbles improve circulation and help promote oxygen exchange.
The larger round sponge provides increased filtration area for aquariums requiring more biological capacity while retaining the gentle intake characteristics that make sponge filters useful in breeding tanks, shrimp systems and aquariums containing small or delicate inhabitants.

Round Large Filter Compatibility/Notes
The filter can be operated with an appropriately sized aquarium air pump or connected to a compatible powerhead using the supplied lift tube. The selected equipment should provide steady circulation without compressing or deforming the sponge.
Allow sufficient floor space for the filter's 5-1/2-inch diameter base. For best biological performance, avoid cleaning the sponge excessively or replacing it while other established biological filtration is unavailable.
Ista Round Large Filter Directions
Rinse the components before installation and assemble the sponge, weighted base and lift tube. Place the filter upright in the aquarium and connect airline tubing from a suitable air pump. Install a check valve where water could siphon toward the pump.
Adjust the airflow until a steady stream of bubbles creates visible water circulation through the filter. When the sponge becomes restricted, disconnect the air supply and rinse the foam by gently squeezing it in removed aquarium water. Avoid aggressive scrubbing that may damage the sponge or remove excessive beneficial bacteria.

Return Policy — Aquarium Equipment & Supplies
- All returns and/or exchanges must be made within 30 days of receipt of product.
- Before returning or exchanging any goods, you must contact J&L Aquatics to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). Items returned without prior authorization will be declined.
- Returned items must be unused, in original packaging, in as-new condition, and in perfect sellable condition. All returns are subject to inspection upon receipt.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all online returns. This fee includes the cost of outbound shipping.
- Customer is responsible for return shipping costs on standard returns.
- Order cancellations made before shipping are not subject to a restocking fee.

Defective, Warranty & DOA Items

- Confirmed defective and warranty returns have no restocking fee and no Affirm fee. Customer does not pay return shipping — J&L Aquatics will provide a prepaid return label.
- All defective claims are subject to inspection. Items showing signs of customer damage, improper installation, or misuse are not covered under warranty.

Affirm & Financing Orders
- Affirm or similar financing orders that are cancelled or returned in-store are subject to a 5% service charge. This covers the processing fee charged to us by the financing provider.
- The Affirm service charge does not apply to confirmed defective or warranty returns.
