Product Description
Hydros Minnow
The Hydros Minnow is a compact HYDROS aquarium controller with two independent micro-liquid dosing pumps and four Sense Ports for combining precise liquid dosing with practical aquarium monitoring. It is designed for dosing two-part solutions, trace elements, and other liquid supplements while also supporting compatible HYDROS sensors for temperature, flow, TDS monitoring, leak detection, and more.
HYDROS Minnow Dosing Controller Overview
The Minnow is built for aquariums where dosing and monitoring need to fit into a compact controller footprint. Instead of requiring a separate controller and separate small dosing unit, the Minnow combines two micro-liquid dosing heads with HYDROS control capability. This makes it a strong option for nano reef tanks, smaller reef systems, freshwater planted aquariums using liquid additives, and systems that need controlled dosing with room for sensor-based monitoring.
With one Minnow, users can dose two separate liquids and connect up to four compatible Sense Port accessories. This allows the controller to handle common dosing needs while also adding temperature monitoring, leak detection, flow monitoring, TDS monitoring, water-level sensing, or other supported sensor inputs. It can run as a standalone HYDROS controller or join other HYDROS devices in a Collective for a more complete aquarium automation system.
Expanded Minnow Dosing and Monitoring Features
- Two independent micro-liquid dosing pumps: The Minnow includes two dosing heads for accurately dosing two separate liquids such as two-part supplements, trace elements, or other aquarium additives. Independent control allows each liquid to have its own schedule and dosing plan.
- Set dosing speeds: The Minnow dosing pumps support set speeds of -55, -45, -25, 25, 40, and 55 ml/min. This gives users flexibility when configuring dosing direction, rate, and application for different liquid supplements.
- Quiet dosing operation: The micro-dosing heads are designed for quiet operation, making the Minnow suitable for display tanks, bedrooms, offices, and other locations where noisy equipment is unwanted.
- Rotatable dosing heads: Rotatable heads make installation more flexible by helping tubing exit in a cleaner direction for the cabinet or equipment layout. This can make dosing lines easier to route and service.
- Exact liquid metering: Accurate metering helps support consistent supplementation, which is especially important in reef aquariums where calcium, alkalinity, trace elements, or other additives need to be dosed in controlled amounts.
- Color-coded heads and tubing: Color coding helps identify which line is connected to which dosing channel, reducing the chance of mixing up supplements during installation, maintenance, or reservoir changes.
- Easy service design: The dosing head layout is designed to be easy to service, helping users maintain reliable dosing performance over time with less frustration during tubing or head maintenance.
- Four universal Sense Ports: The Minnow includes four Sense Ports for compatible HYDROS accessories such as temperature sensors, flow sensors, TDS monitoring, leak detectors, and other supported devices. This makes the Minnow more useful than a basic doser because it can also participate in aquarium monitoring.
- Command Bus connectivity: Command Bus communication allows the Minnow to connect with other HYDROS devices and become part of a broader Collective. This lets dosing and monitoring work alongside other HYDROS equipment rather than operating as an isolated unit.
- Compatible WiFi device control: The HYDROS app can control up to eight compatible HYDROS WiFi devices such as power strips, smart outlets, and feeders, allowing the Minnow to participate in broader aquarium automation beyond dosing.
- App-based setup without coding: Schedules, dosing plans, sensor configuration, alerts, and control rules are configured through the HYDROS app using menus and icons instead of code, making the Minnow approachable while still offering useful control depth.

Minnow Compatibility and Application Notes
The Minnow is best used when the aquarium needs two dosing channels plus sensor monitoring in one compact HYDROS device. It is well suited for two-part dosing, trace element dosing, small-system supplementation, and sensor-supported monitoring. It does not include built-in AC outlets, Drive Ports, pH/ORP probe ports, or salinity probe ports, so those functions require another HYDROS controller or compatible accessory in the system.

Setting Up Your HYDROS Minnow
Mount the Minnow in a dry, accessible location above any liquid reservoirs and route dosing tubing cleanly to prevent kinks or accidental cross-connections. Connect the controller through the HYDROS app, complete firmware updates if prompted, calibrate the dosing heads using the included calibration beaker, then create dosing schedules for each liquid. Configure any connected Sense Port accessories and add the Minnow to a HYDROS Collective if it will work with other HYDROS devices.
