The Hydros Kraken Power Center is a heavy-duty HYDROS 24V DC power center and controller hybrid built to reduce aquarium power-brick clutter while adding intelligent power control, monitoring, and backup-ready functionality. With eight Force Ports, four 12V Drive Ports, a large external Mean Well power supply, battery backup connection, Command Bus connectivity, and HYDROS app control, the Kraken is designed for serious aquariums with multiple DC-powered life-support devices.
HYDROS Kraken Power Center Overview
The Kraken is built around a practical problem found in many modern reef and freshwater systems: too many separate power bricks for return pumps, flow pumps, lights, controllers, and other DC-powered equipment. Instead of running every compatible 24V device from its own external adapter, the Kraken centralizes high-power 24V DC output through individually controlled Force Ports and pairs that with HYDROS controller intelligence.
This makes the Kraken especially valuable for equipment-heavy aquariums, clean cabinet builds, fish rooms, sump rooms, and advanced HYDROS Collectives where power organization and power awareness matter. It can reduce cord clutter, monitor current draw, switch outputs based on HYDROS rules, support low-voltage 12V accessories through Drive Ports, and provide a battery backup connection for keeping critical circulation and control functions alive during a power outage when paired with a suitable external 12V lead acid battery.
Expanded Kraken Power Management Features
- Eight 24V Force Ports: The Kraken includes eight controllable 24V DC Force Ports for powering compatible aquarium equipment such as flow pumps, 24V return pumps, measurement systems, other HYDROS devices, controllers, and small to medium aquarium lights when the proper adapter cables are used.
- Reduced power-brick clutter: By replacing multiple individual 24V power supplies with one centralized power center, the Kraken can make an aquarium cabinet cleaner, easier to service, and less crowded with wall adapters and tangled cords.
- Individual Force Port monitoring: Each Force Port offers power monitoring so the HYDROS system can detect abnormal current conditions. This helps identify under-current or over-current situations and can trigger alerts when connected equipment does not behave as expected.
- Four 12V Drive Ports: The Kraken also includes four Drive Ports for switched 12V DC accessories such as ATO pumps, dosing pumps, cooling fans, cabinet LEDs, water solenoids, steering valves, and compatible HYDROS accessories. This adds useful low-voltage control without needing separate outlet space for every small accessory.
- External Mean Well Super Brick: The included industrial-grade 24V Mean Well power supply provides the large power reserve needed to run the Kraken outputs and HYDROS system. Centralized high-capacity power is one of the main reasons the Kraken is useful in advanced controller layouts.
- Battery backup connection: The Kraken includes a connection for an external 12V lead acid battery so the HYDROS system can run in Low Power Mode during an outage. The system monitors battery voltage and current, and the internal trickle charger helps keep a connected battery ready.
- Two Command Bus ports: Command Bus connectivity allows the Kraken to communicate with and power other compatible HYDROS devices, helping build a larger Collective with shared decision-making and no single communication point controlling the whole system.
- Full HYDROS controller brain: The Kraken can share or take over decision-making within a HYDROS Collective, allowing rules and outputs to respond to sensors and other HYDROS device states rather than operating as simple switched DC outputs.
- Compatible WiFi device control: The Kraken can control up to eight compatible HYDROS WiFi devices such as feeders, smart outlets, and additional WiFi power strips, giving the system room to expand beyond the physical Force and Drive Ports.
- Silent passive cooling: The Kraken is passively cooled with no noisy fan, making it suitable for display aquarium cabinets and other quiet installation areas where fan noise would be unwanted.
- Optical isolation: Isolation between power and control circuitry helps improve operational safety and reduce electrical noise between high-power outputs and control electronics.

Kraken Compatibility and Application Notes
The Kraken is intended for compatible 24V DC equipment and low-voltage HYDROS-controlled accessories. Appropriate Drive Port or Force Port adapter cables are required to connect devices directly to the Kraken and are sold separately. A 12V lead acid backup battery is not included. The Kraken is best suited for advanced HYDROS systems where centralized DC power, current monitoring, battery backup support, and cleaner cable management are major priorities.

Setting Up Your HYDROS Kraken
Mount the Kraken securely in an elevated, protected location with proper drip loops on all cables. Select the correct HYDROS adapter cables for the equipment being powered, connect compatible Force Port and Drive Port devices, then configure the Kraken through the HYDROS app. Add it to an existing HYDROS Collective when sharing inputs and rules with other controllers, and connect an appropriate external 12V lead acid battery only if battery backup operation is part of the system plan.

Return Policy — Aquarium Equipment & Supplies
- All returns and/or exchanges must be made within 30 days of receipt of product.
- Before returning or exchanging any goods, you must contact J&L Aquatics to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). Items returned without prior authorization will be declined.
- Returned items must be unused, in original packaging, in as-new condition, and in perfect sellable condition. All returns are subject to inspection upon receipt.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all online returns. This fee includes the cost of outbound shipping.
- Customer is responsible for return shipping costs on standard returns.
- Order cancellations made before shipping are not subject to a restocking fee.

Defective, Warranty & DOA Items
