Hydros Control X3/XP8 Pro Pack
The Hydros Control X3/XP8 Pro Pack combines the HYDROS Control X3 and Control XP8 into a powerful aquarium monitoring and outlet-control package for freshwater and saltwater systems. This pack is built for hobbyists who want pH or ORP monitoring, sensor-based alerts, eight individually controlled AC outlets, Command Bus connectivity, and HYDROS app control in a more complete controller package than a controller-only unit.
HYDROS X3 and XP8 Pro Pack Overview
The X3/XP8 Pro Pack is designed to give an aquarium both parameter monitoring and secure power control. The Control X3 handles two HYDROS sensor inputs and one pH/ORP Probe Port, while the Control XP8 adds eight 120V AC outlets with individual control and power monitoring. Together, they create a strong foundation for reef tanks, freshwater planted systems, fish-only systems, sump-based aquariums, and life-support equipment setups where monitoring and outlet control need to work together.
This package is especially useful for aquariums where heaters, return pumps, lights, skimmers, feeders, UV sterilizers, and other essential equipment need to be managed more intelligently than with basic timers or ordinary power bars. The included temperature sensor and pH probe with calibration solutions allow the system to begin monitoring important water conditions right away, while the XP8 provides direct wired outlet control for critical AC-powered equipment. Additional HYDROS WiFi power strips or smart plugs can be added later when more controlled outlets are needed.
Expanded X3/XP8 Pro Pack Features
- Control X3 monitoring core: The included Control X3 provides two Sense Ports and one pH/ORP Probe Port, giving the system a compact monitoring brain for temperature, water level, leak detection, flow monitoring, pH, ORP, and other supported sensor-based applications.
- Control XP8 outlet control: The included XP8 adds eight individually controlled 120V AC outlets for aquarium equipment such as heaters, lights, pumps, skimmers, feeders, and other powered devices. This makes the pack much more complete than a monitor-only setup.
- Individual outlet power monitoring: Each XP8 outlet has individual power monitoring capability, giving the HYDROS system better awareness of connected equipment behavior. This can help identify abnormal draw or equipment that is not operating as expected.
- pH or ORP monitoring included: The package includes a pH probe and calibration solutions, while the X3 Probe Port can monitor pH or ORP depending on the probe selected. This is valuable for tracking aquarium pH trends, reef stability, calcium reactor performance, or ORP-based monitoring strategies.
- Two Sense Ports for safety sensors: The X3 Sense Ports can be used with compatible HYDROS sensors such as temperature probes, water level sensors, leak detectors, flow sensors, magnetic switches, and push-button switches. This allows the system to monitor both water parameters and physical safety conditions around the aquarium.
- Command Bus connection between devices: The included Command Bus cable with terminators allows the X3 and XP8 to communicate as part of one HYDROS system. This wired connection helps build a more resilient control network than relying only on WiFi accessories.
- HYDROS Collective capability: The X3 and XP8 can work together in a HYDROS Collective, allowing inputs and outputs to be shared across devices. This lets a sensor connected to one device influence equipment connected to another device inside the same system.
- WiFi expansion support: Both devices support control of compatible HYDROS WiFi devices, making it easy to expand with HYDROS WiFi power strips, smart outlets, feeders, and other supported accessories as the aquarium grows.
- App-based control and alerts: The HYDROS app provides status viewing, equipment control, schedules, rules, modes, and notifications from a phone or tablet. This helps simplify everyday operation while still supporting advanced automation logic.
- Designed for critical equipment: The XP8 is built as a controller and energy bar hybrid for system-critical equipment, giving the setup a more robust foundation for heaters, return pumps, skimmers, and other life-support devices than a standard WiFi power strip.

Compatibility and Application Notes
The X3/XP8 Pro Pack is a strong choice when the aquarium needs both pH or ORP monitoring and wired outlet control in one package. It is well suited for systems with heaters, return pumps, skimmers, lights, feeders, UV units, ATO equipment, and other devices that benefit from smart rules and alerts. It does not include a salinity probe port, so conductivity or salinity monitoring requires a compatible HYDROS controller or accessory designed for that function.
Setting Up Your HYDROS X3/XP8 Pro Pack
Install the HYDROS app, register the Control X3 and Control XP8, connect the devices with the included Command Bus cable and terminators, then connect the system to a 2.4GHz WiFi network. Mount both devices in elevated, protected locations with proper cable drip loops. After firmware updates are complete, configure the temperature sensor, pH probe, AC outlets, alerts, schedules, and any additional HYDROS sensors or WiFi devices needed for the aquarium.
