Gryphon AquaSaw C-40 Tall Diamond Band Saw
Expanded Coral Cutting Capacity with the AquaSaw C-40 Tall
The Gryphon AquaSaw C-40 Tall Diamond Band Saw delivers the precision wet-cutting performance of the original AquaSaw with additional vertical clearance for larger coral colonies, thicker rock structures and oversized fragging material. Also identified by Gryphon as the C-40 CR Tall or AquaSaw XL, it uses a longer 42-inch diamond-coated blade to create approximately two additional inches of working height.
The corrosion-resistant configuration is specifically suited to wet and saltwater-related applications. Stainless steel and hard-anodized metal components help reduce maintenance concerns while the direct-drive motor remains positioned above the water reservoir and cutting surface.
AquaSaw C-40 Tall High-Clearance Advantages
- Additional vertical capacity: Provides 4.5 inches of cutting clearance with the upper blade guide installed for larger coral colonies and thicker material.
- Extended 42-inch blade: The taller frame and longer blade accommodate material that will not fit beneath the standard C-40 guide assembly.
- Fast diamond cutting: The stainless steel diamond-coated blade travels at approximately 40 miles per hour for efficient wet cutting.
- Direct-drive reliability: A 1/3 horsepower DC motor powers the blade without belts or pulleys, simplifying the drive system.
- Corrosion-resistant construction: Stainless steel and hard-anodized aluminum components are selected for improved durability around wet coral-fragging environments.
- Thin and controlled cuts: The narrow diamond blade removes a small amount of material and permits more detailed cutting than conventional rotary saw blades.
- Full-size work platform: Approximately one square foot of unobstructed surface supports larger colonies and rock pieces.
- Integrated coolant reservoir: Recirculating tap water cools and clears the blade during operation.
- Guided blade support: Upper and under-table guides help stabilize the longer blade throughout the cut.

C-40 Tall Compatibility and Safety Notes
The AquaSaw C-40 Tall is designed for compatible hard mineral-based materials including coral skeleton, stone, ceramic, tile and glass. Its increased clearance is particularly useful when a colony or rock section cannot be positioned beneath the standard-height C-40 blade guide.
This model requires a 42-inch Gryphon blade. Standard 37-inch C-40 replacement blades will not fit the C-40 Tall or AquaSaw XL.
Follow all Gryphon safety instructions and keep the upper guide installed whenever practical. Wear appropriate eye and face protection, keep hands clear of the blade and provide adequate ventilation. Suitable gloves and respiratory protection may be required when working with corals capable of releasing irritating or hazardous substances.
Gryphon AquaSaw C-40 Tall Directions
Review the complete Gryphon instruction manual before assembly or use. Place the saw on a stable and level surface away from open aquarium water and uncontrolled electrical splash. Install the correct 42-inch blade, set the blade tension and position the upper and lower guides according to the manufacturer procedure.
Fill the reservoir with clean tap water to the recommended level and verify that coolant reaches the blade before cutting. Keep all guards and covers installed, maintain a clear work area and guide material steadily without applying excessive force.
Disconnect power before making adjustments, changing the blade or cleaning internal components. Empty and clean the water reservoir after use and remove coral residue or saltwater contamination before the saw is stored.
