Focustronic Reagent Full Set - Ca/ Mg/ PO4/ NO3/ KH
The Focustronic Reagent Full Set - Ca/ Mg/ PO4/ NO3/ KH provides a complete collection of chemical testing reagents for the Focustronic Mastertronic Essential automated water testing system. Containing five individual reagent kits for calcium, magnesium, phosphate, nitrate, and alkalinity, this comprehensive set allows reef aquarium owners to establish or replenish all five major chemical testing functions using Focustronic's dedicated reagent formulations. It is an ideal starting point for a newly installed Mastertronic Essential or a convenient way to restock multiple testing parameters together.
Complete Five-Parameter Automated Reef Water Testing
Successful reef aquarium maintenance depends on understanding both the major elements consumed during coral growth and the nutrients affected by feeding, filtration, and biological activity. This full reagent collection supports Mastertronic Essential testing across all five parameters, allowing aquarists to establish an automated monitoring routine rather than relying solely on occasional manual measurements.
- Calcium (Ca): Approximately 200 tests for monitoring a primary building block of coral skeletons and coralline algae.
- Magnesium (Mg): Approximately 83 tests for evaluating an essential element involved in maintaining balanced calcium and alkalinity chemistry.
- Phosphate (PO4): Approximately 600 tests for tracking phosphate accumulation and assessing nutrient export performance.
- Nitrate (NO3): Approximately 200 tests for monitoring nutrient availability, feeding effects, and filtration efficiency.
- Alkalinity (dKH): Approximately 133 tests for following carbonate hardness and changing coral consumption.
Dedicated Reagents for Mastertronic Essential
The set contains the manufacturer's individual testing formulations, designed to work with the Mastertronic Essential's automated reagent handling and colourimetric measurement system. Each parameter uses its own designated reagents, and the complete set supplies 12 individual reagent bottles corresponding to the instrument's 12 internal reagent positions.
Convenient system setup: Purchasing all five kits together provides the chemical supplies needed to configure the supported calcium, magnesium, nitrate, phosphate, and alkalinity tests.
Individual testing schedules: The Mastertronic Essential allows users to configure supported test frequencies for different parameters, making it possible to test faster-changing nutrients more frequently while monitoring calcium and magnesium according to system requirements.
Focustronic app integration: Measurements are recorded for trend analysis and can be reviewed alongside results from other compatible Focustronic equipment. Supported calcium, magnesium, and nutrient measurements can also participate in compatible Dosetronic automation configurations.
Reagent Quantities and Test Capacity
- Calcium: Three reagents - 50 ml, 50 ml, and 200 ml (1.69, 1.69, and 6.76 US fl oz); approximately 200 tests.
- Magnesium: Three reagents - 50 ml, 50 ml, and 200 ml (1.69, 1.69, and 6.76 US fl oz); approximately 83 tests.
- Phosphate: Two reagents - 150 ml and 50 ml (5.07 and 1.69 US fl oz); approximately 600 tests.
- Nitrate: Two reagents - 100 ml and 50 ml (3.38 and 1.69 US fl oz); approximately 200 tests.
- Alkalinity: Two reagents - 50 ml and 100 ml (1.69 and 3.38 US fl oz); approximately 133 tests.
Important Compatibility and Testing Notes
These Focustronic reagents are specifically formulated for Mastertronic Essential and are not currently approved for the original Mastertronic. The full set does not include the automated testing instrument or an Alkatronic reagent supply. Mastertronic Essential supports one scheduled alkalinity test per day, and its alkalinity readings cannot directly control Dosetronic dosing. A separate Alkatronic system is required for frequent automatic alkalinity measurements and active dKH correction.
Directions
Install the reagents in the Mastertronic Essential according to Focustronic's specified vial arrangement: magnesium in positions 1-3, calcium in positions 4, 5, and 11, alkalinity in positions 6 and 12, nitrate in positions 7-8, and phosphate in positions 9-10. Shake Nitrate Reagent 2 vigorously for at least 90 seconds and Calcium Reagent 2 for at least 30 seconds before filling their designated vials. Confirm the correct stirring components are installed, select the appropriate Focustronic reagent profiles in the app, and record the filled reagent volumes. Configure individual testing schedules, monitor remaining solution quantities, and follow the manufacturer's maintenance procedures. Avoid mixing reagent types or switching brands without the recommended rinsing process.
