Focustronic - Phosphate Reagent Kit
The Focustronic - Phosphate Reagent Kit is a two-part testing reagent set designed for automated phosphate monitoring with the Focustronic Mastertronic Essential. Providing approximately 600 phosphate measurements per kit, these reagents allow reef aquarium owners to follow changing phosphate concentrations, assess nutrient export performance, and maintain better control over one of the most important nutrients affecting coral health and algae growth.
Monitor Phosphate Trends with Automated Testing
Phosphate (PO4) is an essential nutrient in marine aquariums, but excessive accumulation or aggressive nutrient removal can create problems for sensitive corals. Phosphate levels may change with feeding, filtration, water changes, and the use of phosphate-removing media. Regular measurements help identify these changes before they become larger water quality concerns.
The Mastertronic Essential combines the Focustronic reagents with automated colourimetric analysis to provide repeatable phosphate measurements and recorded results without the need to manually perform every test.
- Approximately 600 tests: High testing capacity for routine phosphate monitoring.
- Two-part chemical system: Formulated for the Mastertronic Essential automated phosphate testing procedure.
- Full-range monitoring: Focustronic phosphate reagents support measurements across approximately 0 to 2.0 mg/L.
- Manufacturer-specified accuracy: Approximately ±0.01 mg/L when using the supported testing method.
- Useful for nutrient management: Helps evaluate feeding practices, phosphate absorbers, refugiums, and other nutrient export methods.
Choosing the Appropriate Phosphate Testing Range
Focustronic recommends its phosphate reagent for general monitoring, particularly when phosphate is approximately 0.10 mg/L or higher. For mature, low-nutrient reef aquariums where distinguishing very small changes below 0.10 mg/L is especially important, the manufacturer recommends the compatible Red Sea Pro phosphate reagent profile for higher sensitivity in that range. This Focustronic kit is intended for Mastertronic Essential and is not currently approved for the original Mastertronic.
Directions
Install the reagents in the designated Mastertronic Essential phosphate vial positions 9 and 10, following the manufacturer's instructions. Select the Focustronic phosphate reagent profile in the app and update the reagent volumes after filling. If changing from another reagent brand, perform the prescribed vial and reagent line rinsing procedure to prevent cross-contamination. Configure the preferred testing schedule and review phosphate trends alongside nitrate readings for a more complete understanding of aquarium nutrient conditions.

- Phosphate Reagent 2 - 50 ml (1.69 US fl oz)
