Focustronic Dosetronic PRO
The Focustronic Dosetronic PRO is an advanced five-channel aquarium dosing system designed for reef keepers who want precise, automated control over supplement delivery, alkalinity stability, and changing coral consumption. Equipped with five high-precision stepper pumps, the Dosetronic PRO operates independently as a programmable dosing station or integrates with compatible Focustronic testing equipment to automatically adjust dosing based on measured aquarium water parameters. Its additional automatic water change and continuous dosing capabilities make it particularly useful for demanding reef aquariums, SPS-dominated systems, and calcium reactor installations.
Five-Channel Precision Dosing for Advanced Reef Aquariums
Each of the five independently programmable dosing channels can deliver aquarium supplements according to a customized schedule. Rather than adding large quantities of alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, or other solutions at once, users can distribute their daily requirements into smaller doses throughout the day. This helps accommodate the changing demands of a reef aquarium while reducing abrupt changes in water chemistry.
- Five high-precision stepper pumps: Independently controlled dosing channels with durable pump tubing, quiet operation, and 0.1 ml dosing resolution.
- Flexible daily schedules: Customize dosing quantities and delivery times for individual supplements, with schedules that can reflect differences between daytime and nighttime consumption.
- Smart Schedule Generator: Creates a 24-hour dosing schedule using the aquarium lighting period and the selected distribution of daily dosing.
- App-based management: Configure individual pumps, review dosing activity, perform manual doses, and monitor remaining supplement volumes through the Focustronic application.
- Calibration and refill alerts: Manage pump calibration, supplement container volumes, and dosing notifications from the connected system.
Automatic Alkalinity-Based Dosing Adjustments
When connected to a compatible Focustronic Alkatronic or Alkatronic Professional, the Dosetronic PRO can use measured alkalinity levels to help maintain a more consistent dosing regimen. This goes beyond conventional dosing pumps that simply repeat the same schedule regardless of changes in aquarium consumption.
Overall Dosing Adjustment (ODA): Uses alkalinity consumption trends to adjust the dosing schedule across participating channels. This is useful when coral growth or changing system demands require gradual modifications to the daily supplement supply.
Selective Dosing Adjustment (SDA): Provides another method of adjusting scheduled dosing in response to measured alkalinity behaviour. ODA and SDA are alternative correction modes rather than functions operated simultaneously.
Coordinated dosing: When Alkatronic detects an alkalinity condition requiring corrective action, channels assigned to Alkatronic Mode can deliver additional doses or skip scheduled doses as configured. This supports balanced multi-part supplementation instead of correcting alkalinity without considering associated additives.
The Dosetronic PRO can also work with Mastertronic Essential to adjust compatible dosing channels using measured parameters such as calcium, magnesium, and nutrients. Compatible testing equipment is sold separately.
Automatic Water Changes and Continuous Reactor Dosing
Two important features distinguish the Dosetronic PRO from the Dosetronic DC.
- Automatic Water Change (AWC): Two dosing pumps can be assigned to remove aquarium water and replace it with prepared saltwater, automating small water exchanges without relying entirely on manual water changes.
- Continuous Dosing Mode: Supports controlled, extended pump operation for applications such as calcium reactor effluent or kalkwasser reactor feeding. Hourly flow adjustments can help accommodate changing aquarium consumption throughout the lighting cycle.
- Flexible equipment configuration: The five-channel design allows users to combine normal supplement dosing with an advanced pumping application, subject to the channels required for the selected operating mode.
Automatic Water Change and Continuous Dosing modes cannot be operated simultaneously on the same Dosetronic PRO. These higher-duty applications also require more frequent inspection and replacement of internal pump tubing as specified by Focustronic.
System Compatibility and Technical Specifications
- Application: Automated marine aquarium supplement dosing, automatic water changes, and continuous reactor dosing.
- Dosing channels: Five independently controlled high-precision stepper pumps.
- Dosing accuracy and resolution: Approximately ±0.1 ml accuracy with 0.1 ml resolution, according to Focustronic specifications.
- Operation: Standalone programmable dosing or integrated control with compatible Focustronic equipment.
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi, cloud connectivity, and the Focustronic app for iOS and Android.
- Compatible equipment: Focustronic Alkatronic, Alkatronic Professional, and Mastertronic Essential for supported dosing automation.
- Dimensions: 220 x 140 x 182 mm (8.66 x 5.51 x 7.17 inches), length x width x height, as listed by Focustronic.
Choosing Between Dosetronic PRO and Dosetronic DC
Both models provide five-channel automated dosing and can participate in compatible Focustronic alkalinity-based correction routines. The Dosetronic PRO is the more versatile choice for aquarists who also want automatic water changes, continuous reactor feeding, or its heavy-duty stepper-pump configuration. For reef aquariums requiring only scheduled additive dosing and compatible automatic corrections, the Dosetronic DC provides a more straightforward alternative.
Directions
Install the Dosetronic PRO on a stable, level surface or use the supplied wall mount in a protected, accessible location. Connect the supplied tubing to the appropriate supplement containers and delivery points. Install the Focustronic app, connect the unit to Wi-Fi, and follow the initial setup process. Prime and calibrate each dosing pump before establishing individual schedules. If using Alkatronic or Mastertronic integration, configure the compatible devices and correction settings according to the manufacturer's instructions. Verify dosing accuracy and system behaviour before relying on automatic corrections. Maintain the pump tubing and recalibrate whenever tubing, pump position, or operating conditions change.
