Focustronic - Calcium Reagent Kit
The Focustronic - Calcium Reagent Kit is a three-part chemical testing reagent set formulated for the Focustronic Mastertronic Essential automatic aquarium water tester. Designed to support precise calcium monitoring in marine reef aquariums, this kit provides approximately 200 automated calcium tests, helping aquarists track calcium consumption and maintain an appropriate balance between calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium.
Accurate Calcium Testing for Coral Growth
Calcium is a major component of stony coral skeletons and coralline algae, making regular testing important in aquariums with growing calcifying organisms. As coral demand changes, calcium levels can gradually drift from the desired range even when supplementation is maintained. The Mastertronic Essential uses these reagents with its automated colourimetric testing system to measure calcium concentrations and record results through the Focustronic app.
- Mastertronic Essential compatible: Formulated for the manufacturer's current multi-parameter automated testing system.
- Approximately 200 tests: Provides an extended supply for scheduled calcium measurements.
- Three-part reagent kit: Includes the individual solutions required for the supported Focustronic calcium testing procedure.
- Testing performance: Mastertronic Essential specifies calcium measurement accuracy of approximately ±6 mg/L when operated according to manufacturer instructions.
- Useful for supplementation monitoring: Helps identify calcium consumption trends and evaluate the effectiveness of existing dosing schedules.
Reagent Preparation and System Compatibility
This reagent kit is intended for the Mastertronic Essential and is not currently approved by Focustronic for the original Mastertronic. Each solution must be placed in its designated internal vial according to the manufacturer's reagent layout. Calcium Reagent 2 must be shaken vigorously for at least 30 seconds before being transferred into the testing vial to ensure proper reagent consistency. The kit is a chemical refill and does not include the automatic testing instrument.
Directions
Before refilling, confirm that the Mastertronic Essential is configured for Focustronic calcium reagents. Shake Calcium Reagent 2 vigorously for a minimum of 30 seconds and gently mix the other reagents as instructed. Transfer the solutions into the designated calcium reagent vials, positions 4, 5, and 11, without exceeding the recommended fill level. Ensure the required stirring component is installed in vial 5, update reagent quantities in the Focustronic app, and follow the manufacturer's testing and maintenance instructions. Avoid mixing different reagent brands or contaminating the testing vials.
