Product Description
EcoPlus 1/2 HP Aquarium Chiller
EcoPlus 1/2 HP Aquarium Chiller is a higher-capacity aquarium cooling unit for larger freshwater and saltwater systems that need dependable temperature control. It is built for aquariums with greater water volume, stronger heat load, larger pumps, intense lighting, enclosed cabinetry, or warm-room conditions where stable water temperature is critical.
High-Capacity Cooling for Larger Aquarium Heat Loads
The 1/2 HP EcoPlus Chiller is intended for systems that need more cooling power than smaller models can provide. It is useful for reef tanks, marine fish systems, planted aquariums, holding systems, and larger displays where temperature swings can affect livestock health, oxygen levels, coral stability, and long-term system performance.
Digital Control with Corrosion-Resistant Water Contact
- Titanium heat exchanger: Provides corrosion-resistant performance for freshwater and saltwater applications.
- Digital LCD display: Makes temperature setting and monitoring easier during daily operation.
- Compressor-based cooling: Removes heat from the circulating aquarium water loop.
- Freshwater and marine compatibility: Suitable for reef aquariums, fish-only systems, planted tanks, and larger aquarium installations.
- External pump required: The chiller does not replace the circulation pump needed to move water through the unit.
- Ventilation-sensitive performance: Cooling efficiency depends on proper airflow around the chiller and removal of exhaust heat.
1/2 HP Aquarium Capacity, Flow, and Installation Specs
- Chilling capacity: Up to 240 gallons with a 10°F pull-down, or 120 gallons with a 30°F pull-down.
- Inlet and outlet size: 3/4".
- Recommended flow range: 317-793 GPH.
- Dimensions: 21" x 15.5" x 22" H.
- Display/control: Digital LCD temperature control.
- Pump: Sold separately and must be matched to the required flow range.
Planning Pump Flow, Placement, and Ventilation
For best performance, match the pump to the chiller's recommended flow range after accounting for head pressure, plumbing length, elbows, valves, and any filtration equipment in the loop. Place the chiller where warm exhaust air can escape rather than recirculate into the cabinet. Poor ventilation can reduce cooling efficiency and make the chiller run longer than necessary.
Installation and Startup Directions
Let the chiller remain upright for at least 30 minutes before initial operation. Install it in a dry, ventilated location, connect the inlet and outlet plumbing securely, and use a pump capable of maintaining the recommended flow range through the unit. Leak-test all connections before use, then set the desired temperature on the LCD controller. Watch the first cooling cycle to confirm water flow, temperature response, and safe operation before leaving the aquarium unattended.
What's Included
- One EcoPlus 1/2 HP Aquarium Chiller.
Important Chiller Sizing and Warranty Note
Chillers are covered under warranty only when used within the range they are designed for. Under-sizing a chiller for the aquarium can void warranty coverage. Pump, tubing, clamps, fittings for the full installation, and any required ventilation accessories are sold separately unless otherwise specified.
