AlgaGen PODS Apocyclops (8oz)
AlgaGen PODS Apocyclops (8oz) is a live copepod culture for reef aquariums and marine systems, offering Apocyclops panamensis pods that help seed microfauna populations while providing natural live food for corals, fish, and larvae.
AlgaGen Apocyclops Live Copepods for Reef Feeding
Apocyclops is a tropical cyclopoid copepod that brings useful activity to both the water column and surfaces in the aquarium. This makes it a practical choice when you want a live pod addition that can be consumed by corals, planktivorous fish, finicky feeders, and developing marine larvae while also helping establish a more natural reef food web.
Apocyclops PODS Water Column Benefits
- Live Apocyclops panamensis copepods for reef aquarium feeding and biodiversity.
- Useful for feeding corals, small marine fish, larvae, mandarins, wrasses, pipefish, seahorses, and other pod-feeding livestock.
- Water-column movement helps make Apocyclops more available to fish and filter-feeding animals.
- Supports a natural live-food chain when added to displays, sumps, refugiums, rockwork, and pod-safe zones.
- Can reproduce under suitable aquarium or culture conditions when food, shelter, and stable water parameters are available.
- Works well alongside live phytoplankton feeding when the goal is to support a sustained pod population.
- 8oz size is convenient for routine seeding, targeted pod boosts, or smaller reef systems.

Apocyclops Seeding and Culture Notes
For the best chance of establishing a visible pod population, add Apocyclops to areas with shelter from constant predation such as refugiums, rubble zones, macroalgae, sump chambers, or live rock structures. Regular phytoplankton feeding can help sustain the culture after introduction, especially in systems with heavy pod predation.
AlgaGen PODS Addition Directions
- Use promptly after receiving the live culture and avoid rinsing the pods before use.
- If temperature or salinity differs significantly, acclimate gently before release.
- Pause main pumps and skimmer for approximately 30-60 minutes so pods are not immediately pulled into filtration.
- Add the culture to the refugium, sump, live rock, macroalgae, or other protected area.
- Resume equipment after the settling period and feed live phytoplankton as needed to support ongoing pod reproduction.
What's Included
