The commonest lighting mistake is buying plenty of output and spreading it over the wrong area — bright in the middle, dim at the ends. Work out the footprint you need to cover, then the intensity that footprint needs, and only then look at fixtures. A long tank generally wants bar-style lighting; a cube or a nano does better with a single point source.

Supplemental colour bars — run alongside a main fixture to lift colour rather than to drive growth.

Mounting hardware — tank mounts, clips, arms and rail kits, sold separately for most fixtures.

Check what mounting is included before you order, because on a lot of fixtures the arm or bracket is a separate purchase.
