Closest Thing to What They'd Eat Anyway

Freezing keeps the prey item whole, so fish get the shapes and textures they are built to take. That is usually what gets a newly imported or stubborn fish feeding in the first place, and it matters most for small-mouthed species that cannot manage a pellet.

What's in This Collection

  • Frozen invertebrates — bloodworms in standard and jumbo grades, brine shrimp adult and baby, mysis, daphnia, krill and ocean plankton.
  • Cube packs — pre-portioned blister cubes, easy to take one at a time for a single tank.
  • Flat packs — larger sheets, for bigger systems or several tanks at once.
  • Live refrigerated copepods — cultures for seeding a refugium or feeding finicky species.

Thaw before feeding, and leave the pack liquid behind. Thawing a portion in a cup of tank water and straining it keeps a good deal of dissolved nutrient out of the display, which adds up quickly if frozen food is your daily staple. Frozen and refrigerated items carry handling requirements — check the shipping notes on the product page, or email sales@jlaquatics.com before ordering.

J&L Aquatics was formed in December 1997

Our business was started from our love of the aquarium hobby. We at J&L Aquatics felt that the Canadian aquarist should have the option to purchase top quality supplies, equipment and livestock other than the generally over priced local retail stores.
